Butchart Gardens, Vancouver Island British Columbia - the Year Round Garden Spot for Travelers

Butchart Gardens, on Vancouver Island British Columbia isn't just enchanting during the summer months. Travelers can find the Gardens a paradise throughout every season of the year. My family has visited the Butchart Gardens during each season of the year, we find this a romantic, exciting and fun place to enjoy our vacations.

Admission to Butchart Gardens is $31.47 for adults, $15.74 Youth, $3.20 child 5 years to 12 years. Butchart Gardens is also open on Christmas and tickets to enter the garden on that day are $26.40 adult, $13.33 Youth, $3.20 child. If you plan to visit Butchart Gardens more than once a year then a 12 month ticket may be in order $54.00 for 2011 and fireworks is $88.48.

Hours of operation are every day of the year at 9:00 am except on Christmas Day when the garden opens at 1:00 pm.

During springtime, visitors can enjoy a Spring Prelude & Historical Display, which takes place from January 15 through March 31st. During the Spring Prelude indoor gardens beckon and are filled with blooms while the outdoor gardens are just waking up to the New Year. Be sure to visit the Koi ponds where the Butchart Garden's resident Koi lazily swim in their reflective ponds enjoying the awakening of spring.

Displays give visitors the history of the Butchart Garden. Robert and Jennie Butchart dreamed of this beautiful, bloom filled garden and its creation is an amazing sight and history to learn and view.

Spring Prelude is also Wedding Season at Butchart, with brides, grooms and guests enjoying the beauty of this amazing place. How many Brides have their floral arrangements actually growing in the ground surrounding their wedding chapel? So romantic that the bride and groom with up to 58 guests and relatives can stroll the paths, sip champagne and have their reception dinner in the elegant Dining Room Restaurant.

Butchart Garden is filled with hundreds of thousands of flowing bulbs, shrubs and trees just awaiting those sunny days of summer to come into view so they can burst forward with color and scent.

Summertime at Butchart Gardens June 15th to September 30th needs no introduction when these flowers and trees come into their full bloom. Walk the pathways and breath in the smell of beauty under the sun. Enjoy the Butchart Gardens entertainment venue during the evenings and sit or lie on the grass enjoying the open-air music performances.

July of course brings with it the July Fireworks display. Fiery magical figures glide over the ground while the lights dance off the water. There is no extra charge for the fireworks once the initial cost of admission is paid.

June 15th to September 15th enjoy a breathe of salt air and the woody scents while you glide silently through the forest bordered inlet along the Butchart Gardens. Enjoy the boat tours all along the inlet during this period of the year.

Fall, October 1st to November 30th - brings forth the great change, colors abound from red, orange to yellow. Brightly lit by their internal life force these great flowers and trees walk you through the Fall season and into the winter months with a thrill to the sight and quickened beat of your hear.

Winter - December 1st - January 6th - brings with it the Christmas Season filling the garden with Christmas lighting arrangements along pathways and on the buildings throughout the park. Walking the pathways of Butchart Gardens takes guests to a winter wonderland that is a once in a lifetime experience. Ice-skating, swags, wreaths, holly and winterberries are all around. A wonderful season to visit Butchart Gardens is the Christmas season.

Before leaving Butchart Gardens be sure to visit the seed and gift store where visitors can purchase individually packaged seeds to take home and grow their own garden. Also remember there is food a beverages available throughout the gardens at the Blue Poppy, or the Dining Room Restaurant. If a meal isn't what you are looking for then there is always afternoon tea each and every day.

Please remember that now when traveling to Canada or the Islands in order to reenter the United States you must either have a passport or travel card. It is necessary to come into the US but not necessary to enter into Canada at this time. Some travelers may be unaware of these restrictions.
