Butt-Crack Nightmares in the Fashion of Today

Teens Aren't the Only Ones to Blame!

ShawneeWrites
As I drove down the street one day, I glanced over at someone walking by the roadside. This young man had on no shirt, and his pants fell down just underneath his butt cheeks. Thankfully, he did have on boxers. But it was evident that each butt cheek was well-outlined and proudly flopping in the breeze as he made his way to his destination. No concerns. No shame.

Once upon a time, plumbers received a lot of flak for showing their cracks. The plumber's crack became a widely known joke. Now, it's no joke that the plumber's crack has nothing on today's style. Plumbers only wish they could be as popular as all the bottoms hanging out of jeans. It saddens me that there is little left to the imagination. Not only do butt cracks peek out, thong underwear shouts at us from all sorts of body types, often provoking the gag reflex.

Adults are, no doubt, old enough to deal effectively with turning the other way if they prefer not to stare at someones hiney. However, our children are also exposed to this flagrant disregard for bodily privacy. Butt cracks and boxers seem to be the rage of the times. Woe is me, but I do hope that when my own young teen has children, the times will indeed have gone back to some sensible styles. (No, I do not allow her to flash her butt-crack or boxers or thong underwear for all the world to see. Thankfully, she isn't interested in that sort of thing anyway!)

I must, in all fairness, make it known that teens are not the only ones to blame for this lack of decency. I've seen plenty of adults letting things hang out that would be better kept hidden properly in their clothing. I realize that designers make millions off this fashion slip (pun intended). But does that mean we must continue to allow anything and everything to drag our social graces into the gutter? Money is a necessary evil in this world. We need it to survive. We do deserve to live nicely if we work hard and earn our way, whether it be by manual labor or labor of the mental capabilities. I don't feel that anyone should hide their wealth, although flaunting it with disregard is unfortunately no longer considered vulgar.

Butt cracks nightmares exist with older people who choose to dress like they forget their age as well, of course, giving fashion a bad name. Women, please, exert some personal pride here. I daresay, in my personal opinion, that if you choose to dress young, more power to you that it will work for your image. However, there is an age where the thongs peeking out of the pants just don't work in your favor.

Yes, we do have and do exercise freedom of choice. We don't have to all agree on the same style of clothing. But seriously, folks, how can we allow our children and young people to dress with such disregard to personal class and then attempt to promote abstinence? If we allow them to "let it all hang out", perhaps we deserve to gain unplanned pregnancies and sexual diseases running rampant among our youth.

There is a time and a place for everything. Now is the time to take back our streets, re-invent the image of dignity, and put the butt cracks and thongs back where they belong...hidden under our clothes.
