Top 5 Worst Boxing Nicknames in History-Scott "Pink Cat" Walker
I'm sorry but Pink Cat is not a very intimidating nickname. Scott "Pink Cat" Walker entered the boxing ring wearing pink trunks and with his hair slicked back. On July 17, 1995, Scott "Pink Cat" Walker won the WBC Continental Americas Light Welterweight title over Francisco Cuesta. He was found dead at his home on January 31, 2004 at the age of 34.
Top 5 Worst Boxing Nicknames in History-Jerry "Wimpy" Halstead
I have no idea how a professional boxer in the heavyweight division gets a nickname like "Wimpy". But this is definitely not a good nickname for such a tough, strong professional boxer. He had a record of 84-19-1 and 62 of those 84 wins were by KO, so he obviously wasn't very "Wimpy" in the boxing ring.
Top 5 Worst Boxing Nicknames in History-Lance "Goofi" Whitaker
Lance "Goofi" Whitaker won the bronze medal at the 1995 Pan American Games in Mar del Plata, as an amateur. The "Goofi" nickname was started as a publicity stunt that ultimately backfired.
Top 5 Worst Boxing Nicknames in History-Eric "Butterbean" Esch
Eric "Butterbean" Esch was a 5 time winner of the Toughman competition. He has been an entertaining fan favorite, entering the ring in his American flag boxing trunks. This tough guy could have definitely used a more menacing nickname than "Butterbean".
Top 5 Worst Boxing Nicknames in History-Pernell "Sweet Pea" Whitaker
Pernell "Sweet Pea" Whitaker is among the greatest boxers of all time. Whitaker was known as a youngster as "Pete". During his amateur years, his hometown fans would chant "Sweet Pete". A sportswriter misunderstood what they were saying and reported in the local newspaper that they were saying "Sweet Pea", from there the nickname stayed with him throughout his boxing career.
These guys all made names for themselves in the world of boxing, but their nicknames were all a pretty bad representation of such tough guys. The publicity stunts may not have worked back then, but they will always be remembered for having the top 5 worst boxing nicknames in history.
