Butterflies

Lisa Stanley
You can feel the butterflies
Floating in your stomach
Tickling your insides
And nauseating your thoughts
You can feel your limbs
Shaking inside and out
Blood tightens your muscles
Cramps your clear thinking
Someone is grabbing your heart
Twisting it tighter and tighter
Crushing your lungs
As they ooze out through your throat
And empty out
Ears getting hot, swollen
Without hearing a word
Coughing out your internal structure
Blood turns black , lifeless

Butterflies floating in your stomach
As you take a deep breath and
Smile
