Butterflies & Rainbows

Douglas Mefford
[ONE]

Meeting astride the sky-spanning
Plumage of a glittering Pegasus;
we race the forces
of this external world
and speed towards these
moments of escape into
our dream ...

'Tis not so much the thought
of courted danger
as the need to speak
against the rules that
bind us ...

'Tis not so much a sin,
as a crime against
a nature that prohibits
these brief spans of
willfullness ...

So we softly tread
these china floors of
propriety
least they break from
too much use.

[TWO]

These things I float around of yours
please the eye and touch,
as your gently swirling form descends
the spiraled windings of my dreams.
Reliving, once more,
the subtle movement of your charm;
In rays of light you brighten
the deep shadows of my soul
and dance, filling
my sleep with a private version
of your rainbow colors flying
'midst flaming tresses
and the flower resting there.
In petaled blues, and green on gold,
the eyes reach out and touch
that ancestral feel of falling
into the eternity of your gaze.

[THREE]

Softly curving subtle harmony -
graceful moving femininity ...

Strangling coyly, scented guest ...
Which is mystery, why not guess.

Powers unleashed, emotion's glee -
Minds and our body merged eternally.

Which One?
