The Butterfly Kisses Pageant System held a Christmas event December 13 at the Vinton County (Ohio) Community Building. Pageant Director, Angela Brown began organizing the pageants, with are held locally, and in Columbus several years ago, to offer a lower cost system in which all girls, and boys could participate. The Butterfly Kisses Pageants also offer a chance to become involved in community service for both participants, and spectators. During the holiday pageant, toys were collected for children in need. Special goody bags, and arts activities are also a part of the overall pageant experience for the young ladies who choose to participate. Director Brown grew up attending pageants, and wanted to give others the chance to have a fun and bonding experience themselves. Brown recently participated in the America's Beautiful Role Model Nationals Pageant, and earned honors in the following divisions: Prettiest Hair, Best Glamour Photo, Community Service, and overall First Runner-Up.

"We had 17 beautiful boys and girls at our Christmas Pageant," Brown stated. "We allowed free admission if a gift for Toys for Tots was brought in. Our next pageant will be February 15th, at Westland Mall in Columbus Ohio. Information can be found at www.get-me.to/butterflykissespageant/ or by call me at 740-596-9647."

Awards for the winners was the highlight of the experience for the participants. The first place winner received a three foot trophy, and star crown, Build-A-Bear, sash, and a $100 Savings Bond. Each divisional winner received a one foot trophy, and all participants were given a special wrapped Christmas gift. Santa Claus made a special visit to the event, and spent time with all the children. Milk and cookies were served while participants played a Christmas themed bingo game. An ornament contest was a big hit with the children and teens this again this year. The handmade ornaments from participants and their siblings were judged and returned, or children were allowed to donate the ornaments to the Christmas tree at the Herbert Wescoat Memorial Library. Three winners from the contest were each given a gift.
