Bux Web Sites and the Dangers You Face when Joining One

Many people have heard of bux Web sites, many people have joined them in the past, many people are joining them now, and many people will join them in the future. The process is simple, you join for free, you click on some links, and you get paid in exchange. The problem is, many people do not know what dangers they face when joining such a Web site.

After the incredible success of bux.to, the most popular, and oldest bux Web site, thousands of similar websites have emerged. This was because, it is extremely easy to start such a Web site, you are not required to have an authorization, and the resources needed for it are minimal: a domain name, a bux script which you can get for free, and some kind of hosting, free hosting will work too as the bux script has minimum requirements.

Many Web site meant many opportunities for people to make money. Well, that statement is not entirely true, despite the large number of websites, there are very few that will actually pay you. Many of them are run by scammers which are stealing peoples money.

A scam Web site will usually stay open for some time, and when it has to start paying it will disappear, or experience problems. In the past most scam websites were not paying, after making people have to wait for 30-45 days, but people have caught on to this trick, and have stopped joining websites that did not provide them with some kind of proof that they were actually worth their time.

Lately, scammers have developed a new method of operating these websites, they will pay small amounts of money at the beginning, and after they have reached their goal, meaning the sum they planed to acquire, they disappear or start to experience problems.

These are the most common situations which are encountered with a scam Web site:

- the website is closed by the owner, and will never emerge;
- the website is closed by the owner, and will emerge after some time, stating that the database was lost, and users have to start earning money all over again;
- the website is experiencing problems, and is not able to pay its users anymore, but will pay them at a later time;
- the website was "hacked", and the database was lost, making payments impossible;
- the website was "hacked", and only an "older" version of the database was recovered;
- the website needs to switch hosting providers, and will never emerge again;

Not getting paid is not the only danger you face when joining a bux Web site. as many con artists open such Web sites in order to gather user names and passwords in order to use them to gain access to other peoples accounts. Many people are using the same user name and passwords at more than one website, as it is very hard to remember a large volume of passwords.

People using an unique password in all Internet accounts, should be aware that the data they submit to such Web sites is mostly not protected in any way, passwords are not encrypted in their databases, also most of the Web sites are not using any SSL encryption when transmitting data from and to the users, which makes it very easy for a 3-rd party to intercept confidential data.

In conclusion, before joining such a Web site, people are advised to first search for a review of the Web site, in more than one place, and also make sure they are not using the same password when joining more of them. Also, the password that they use should be a different from the one they use to access their e-mail addresses, bank accounts, and such.
