If you're looking for a Valentine's Day gift that communicates your love as well as God's place in your relationship, you may wish to consider one of the following gifts for your beloved.

Valentine's Day Gift for the Moviegoer or Reader

Fireproof, a movie about a struggling marriage, will be released at the end of January. You may pre-order the movie through a number of retailers. In this film, firefighter Caleb Holt rescues people, but he's afraid he can't rescue his marriage. But a dare from his father changes Caleb's attitude as Caleb attempts to show unconditional love to his wife. You may pre-order this DVD through Christian Book Distributors for $17.99. This DVD makes a great Valentine's Day gift not only for your spouse but for any friend or family member who believes that a Christ-centered marriage is important in today's society.

A companion product to Fireproof also makes a great Valentine's Day gift for your sweetheart. Alex and Stephen Kendrick wrote The Love Dare, a book featured in the movie itself. This book presents challenges for couples to express unconditional love in their marriage and allows space to write the outcome of each experiment. You may buy this book from Christian Book Distributors for $8.99.

Finally, Frederick Bassett has edited a gift book edition of the Song of Songs. Love: The Song of Songs presents the Old Testament book in alternating poems between husband and wife. Although Bassett has modernized the language, it sounds much like the Bible's language. The illustrations appear tasteful, but the cover does feature a basic line drawing of a naked woman. If this type of drawing offends you, you may wish to pick another gift. Christian Book Distributors offers this book for $13.99.

Valentine's Day Gift for the Writer

The God Loves You Promise Journal celebrates God's love for us through selected book excerpts and Bible quotations. The journal also includes lined pages for the recipient to record thoughts. The cover looks feminine, with flowers and a pink background. You may obtain this journal through Christian Book Distributors for $11.99. For a dollar more, you may buy the journal in a matching gift box. This journal would make an affordable Valentine's Day gift for a friend, mother, wife, girlfriend, teacher, or any other woman.

Valentine's Day Gift for the Jewelry Lover

If your wife loves jewelry, you may find the Ani l'Dodi pendant from Holy Land Gifts a suitable Valentine's Day gift. This sterling silver pendant is supposed to represent the theme from Song of Songs: "I am my beloved's, and my beloved is mine." The two negative comments from buyers are that the packaging is not very nice, and the Hebrew letters aren't distinct. Also, you may have to explain the significance of the pendant. Some buyers recommend including a note of its meaning in the gift box. You may buy this necklace through Christian Book Distributors for $18.99.

Whatever gift you choose, don't forget the packaging. For ideas on some unique ways to wrap gifts, check out Priscilla King's article, "Top Ten Ways to Wrap a Creative Tightwad's Christmas Present."

I love the "Fireproof" idea, although my girlfriend already purchased the movie for herself. I ended up going the jewelry route with a heart-shaped necklace bearing the inscription from 1 Corinthians 13- "Love Never Fails." Great article and great suggestions!
