Buying Back to School Clothes on a Budget

It is that time of year again! Most children will be returning to school next month. With the start of the new school year comes the grueling process of buying your children new school clothes. Buying new school clothes can be a headache for some parents. I am going to share a few tips that will hopefully ease the monotony of back to school shopping.

When shopping for back to school clothes the first thing we as parents should look for is bargains. This is especially important for parents like me that have more than one child. I would advise parents to stay away from children's specialty clothing stores but to shop at department stores instead. I personally don't buy my children's school clothes from specialty stores because the prices that you are going to pay are going to be a little higher than those at department stores. Look for both discount racks and tables. If you do not see a discount of at least 30 percent it is not a bargain. What I normally do is that if I see a good deal on some shirts or pants I normally buy multiple amounts of the same product. This is very beneficial for parents who have children that attend schools that require them to wear uniforms. In this case polo shirts and khaki pants for children can be purchased at a fairly reasonable price. I also purchase winter clothes such as long sleeve shirts and sweaters. These clothes are very inexpensive since they are out of season. They will normally be on clearance racks because most stores are going to mark them down to make room for newer lines of clothes. I honestly can purchase enough school clothes for both of my children on a budget of less than $200.00, which to some people may be a little excessive. I would not suggest that anybody have a back to school clothes budget higher than this. We love our kids and we want them to look presentable when they go to school but it doesn't mean we have to drain our wallets doing so.

Back to school shopping is a task that most parents don't look forward to; however if we as parents look for bargains we can save lots of time and money. Remember to buy in bulk if your financial budget permits it. School clothes shopping is only as hard as we make it so try to have fun in the process.
