I'm always trying to buy new CDs for the lowest price possible. So I'm glad I found yourmusic.com. It's a membership where I'm automatically billed $5.99 a month plus taxes for a CD that I select. Shipping is free and I can buy new CDs in unlimited quantities throughout the month. I don't like recurring fees on my credit card. But my desire to buy new CDs so cheaply outweighs my skepticism.
I listen to song samples before choosing which CDs to add to my queue - that's where I list what CDs I want shipped to me next. Keeping a CD in the queue at all times is crucial because I'm charged even if I don't.
Happy shipping!
And I receive my orders fast. I've never waited more than 5 days to receive my selections although the site states that it takes 10 - 14 business days.
Canceling is no hassle.
After receiving a 2nd CD from my queue in the second month of my membership, I decided that it was too much trouble to buy new CDs and deal with a recurring monthly charge. So I went to the page where I could manage my subscription and clicked on "cancel my subscription." I didn't receive any additional charges after that.
Reactivation is also a breeze.
About 6 months later, I had that urge to buy new CDs again. So with just a few clicks I was able to reactivate the membership.
Buy new CDs… What CDs?
One slight disappointment… Despite the inventory of over 14,000 titles that yourmusic.com has, I noticed that the selections are limited in some genres. And I don't find many new releases that I'm looking for.
Just say no to monthly charges.
But on a more positive note, I finally figured out a way to buy new CDs and not deal with the recurring fees. I order the CDs that I want and then cancel my subscription after my shipment arrives. Whenever I want to buy more music then I reactivate my account and do it all over again.
There are always pros and cons.
I do think that the membership would appeal to more people if yourmusic.com listed a customer service phone number, instead of only corresponding via email. And like I said, the selection could be better. But for the price I can't complain.
Overall, I can buy new CDs from yourmusic.com at a great price at my convenience.

I tried yourmusic.com and it was not good. Payment taken immediately, with most orders not filled in the manner they said it would. Had to fight some overcharges that eventually got refunded, but took a while. I'd stay away from this site until they iron out the wrinkles.
the problem I'm having with them is your music had my quene cd on back orderfor 30 days and they sent me nothing not even an e-mail you would think that they would move on to the next cd in my music quene like there policy states but this did not happen now i just get emails from them on how long it takes to ship to me ,I have orederd over 40 cd's from them and I get treated like this ?
Joelle, sorry to hear about your experience with YourMusic.com. So far I haven't had any problems with the service. But I can definitely see how it would be difficult to get assistance without a phone number to call for customer service. Like I stated in the article, that is a definite con to this membership.
cut me off.... The lady I got this time, who was obviously from overseas, said she did not handle Yourmusic accounts and did not have a phone number for them. I asked to speak to a manager. She put me on hold. After a little bit she said her manager was busy but she would take my name and number and have him call me back. I requested to hold, at which time she said she could not allow that and hung up on me. At this point I will probably just call my credit card company and reverse the charge for the CD I have not received, cancel my service, and cut my losses. I will never recommend this service to anyone!
My first experience with yourmusic.com worked just fine. Shipments arrived within 7-10 days, and the price was good. I canceled after a few months when my husband lost his job and we didn't have money for extras, and that was no problem either.
In Dec. 2006 I decided to sign up again. I was supposed to get a free CD for doing so, but they switched me to a special "re-signup" screen, and when the process was complete I didn't get the free CD. I sent an email and eventually got a reply fixing the problem. Here's the kicker: it's now Feb. 2007. I have STILL not received my Dec. 06 order OR my free CD. I DID get my Jan. 2007 CD. Weird, right? I have sent several emails, but now they are being ignored. I have called Columbia House (212-901-0700) who told me the number for Yourmusic.com was 317-692-9200. This was actually for BMG (who I understand owns Yourmusic). After holding the first time, someone picked up the phone and then hung up immediately. I called back. The lady I got this time
Update: As of Jan. 2007 yourmusic.com has raised their price to $6.99 per CD.
