Buying Chicago Cubs Tickets

5 Tested Methods to See a Game at Wrigley Field

Buying Chicago Cubs tickets does not have to be an ordeal. I grew up around Chicago and never had any difficulty in locating tickets. You just have to know where to look!

StubHub (www.stubhub.com), eBay (www.eBay.com), Craiglist (www.Craiglist.org)

StubHub is probably the best place to start your search for Chicago Cubs tickets. They are an established company and you can be reasonably sure you are not going to be ripped off. Ticket prices are generally reasonable, but occasionally you will find higher priced tickets due to the Cubs playing a marquee team. This method is by far the most reliable and the generally best way to find specific seats.

eBay and Craiglist are also very good ways to find tickets, but you are truly at the mercy of the seller and will often find yourself paying way more than face value for the tickets.

Buying at Wrigley Field the Day of the Game

If you are in the area and are willing to take the risk, showing up at the park the day of the game netted me some excellent Chicago Cubs tickets on more than one occasion. Lots of tickets get held back for parties, promotions and other events. Often, not all of these tickets get put to use and are released back into the ticket pool the day of the game. Granted, you may run the risk of there being no available seats. However, you will find that bleacher seats are usually available, so if you are not too fussed about sitting with the rowdies, it is a fairly reliable way to get tickets. This method also makes it difficult to find large numbers of seats together. So if you are planning a party, this is not the best method to get tickets.

Find Season Ticket Holders

If you are truly desperate for Chicago Cubs tickets, this method may be worth a try. Do your research online, or ask around the office or workplace. You could even try putting an ad in the paper offering to purchase any season tickets that would otherwise go unused. If you can get hooked up with a season ticket holder, you can offer to buy their tickets for any games they do not intend to see.

Let Your Fingers Do the Walking

Grab a phone book and look up "Ticket Brokers." The Yellow Pages has dozens of brokers selling Chicago Cubs tickets. You will probably pay a little more for tickets if you go through a broker, but you tend to find better seats for bigger games. Sometimes if you are looking for a specific set of seats, this ends up being one of your only options.

Don't Look For Marquee Tickets

If you have unlimited funds then this method is not for you. As a general rule, if all you want is to get into Wrigley Park to see a game, do not be selective when looking for Chicago Cubs tickets. Games against marquee teams (like the New York Mets, St. Louis Cardinals, or the Atlanta Braves) will mean that tickets are going to sell fast. Any tickets available will be selling for more than face value. To put it delicately, try to buy tickets when the Cubs are playing teams that don't draw large crowds. Wait for the Cubs to play teams like the Pittsburgh Pirates, Cincinnati Reds, or Houston Astros. When the Cubs play teams like these, the games are seldom sell-outs.
