First you need to decide which use you are going to give to your boat, because your final choice will be dependent on this. If you want to use your boat in a professional competition or an important event your boat choice would be different than if you get a boat just for fun. Also consider the setting and function; some boats are designed for speed, when others are designed to be used in a calm setting, or for use in rivers, inshore or bays. The performance of your boat will be affected if you use it for something it wasn't designed for.
If our intention is to fish inshore or shallow water, then flat boats or vessels would be the way to go. These boats are compact and float really well in calm shallow waters. They also offer good interior space, but of course you won't be able to go too fast. If you prefer to fish in deeper cal waters like those on lakes, then you will find many options. Ask retailers what options you have and what price you are willing to pay; they will be able to assist you.
Some fishing conditions are more adverse than others. This is the case of fishing in the open sea; open sea fishing can put your watercraft into extreme conditions and you will need a boat that will be able to withstand the high demands this kind of fishing requires. Boats designed for this purpose have a very sturdy and stable construction. Some of these boats are center console bats, usually enclosed with single or twin engine power.
If you have the opportunity to visit a boating community, take advantage f this. Those communities have experienced members that are more than willing to give you advice regarding which boat is right for you. Talk to them and ask a few questions and you'll be surprised by the amount of knowledge they have.
In order to find the best deal, it is better to check on several sources once you find a boat that you like. You can do this by visiting local vendors, responding to newspaper ads, or using the internet to find deals in websites such an eBay or Craig's List.
