Most people who venture to eBay are there looking for items or bargains to purchase. And eBay is certainly a place to find the mundane to the obscure object. The site has sold items like laptops, computers, household goods, furniture, clothing, to strange things like a cigarette smoked by Britney Spears or a million year old fossil. To start buying or selling on eBay you have to sign up on their auction site. Registering on eBay is free and easy. Okay, first you need an Internet connection. Surf on over to the eBay site. Click on the registration link at the top of the web page when you land at the website. Once on the registration page simply enter all the requested information. This includes name, address, telephone number, email. It is important to supply this contact information. This is how eBay and sellers contact you or send your purchases. Select an Ebay user ID. Nothing too bizarre, but something easy to remember. This is your ID on eBay. Select a password. Use at least several characters to make it secure. Type in date of birth. Then read the user agreement and accept the terms. Next, eBay should send you a confirmation email to the email address supplied. Once you receive the email go back to the eBay site and enter the confirmation number. Now, you are an officially registered member of eBay and can start buying or selling on the popular auction website.

Tip One - Familiarize yourself with the eBay website before placing your first bid on an item. Type in items in the search box and check out the items that pop up. Read the information. Click a few of the links on the home page and read what they have to say.

Tip Two - Keep your eBay password secure. Do not share the password with others. Be very suspicious of any emails received requesting your password or other personal information.

Tip Three - Make sure that you sign up with Paypal before registering at eBay. Most merchants on the site only accept Paypal for purchases.
