We've all had it happen to us sometime in our lives and very likely it happens each and every year. Looking over our lists of those to buy gifts for, we're always stumped when coming across someone's name. Be it a parent, a relative or even a boss, sometimes it is hard and seemingly impossible to find the best gift for that individual.

But there's no need to fear for the sake of your Christmas. Why stress over the perfect gift when you can, with a little bit of thinking, come up with a good gift that the person is sure to enjoy?

Here are just a few tips to help take the stress out of this bit of decision making for your holiday season. Keep them in mind this Christmas as you're going over those lists and picking out gifts for everyone on it. With these in mind, you can be assured of getting a gift that will bring a smile to anyone's face.

Keep in mind who you're buying for! Naturally highly personal gifts won't do for a business relationship. Small gifts work best in these situations, whereas more personal relationships might give you more leeway in what to buy.

What does that person like? It may be hard to pinpoint at first but try asking friends, co-workers or other relatives close to that individual what he/she might be into. You might find out some interesting things!

Don't give giftcards unless they come with another item. Gift cards can sometimes seem a little impersonal if not accompanied by another gift.

If all else fails, consider buying a book. Buy personal recommendations that you think others might like or, alternatively, try buying more general and light books. Coffee table picture books are very nice for this or even light humor books.

Consider handmade gifts. Oftentimes, nicely handmade gifts are looked upon more warmly than others, particularly with adults and older individuals. It shows you have taken time and care in preparing that individual's gift and sends a positive message about your feelings for them.

Pick out a nice card to give with the gift. It's always a nice touch and allows an added personal touch.Even if these fail, keep in mind - the idea of the season is not in the gifts you get but the gifts you give and the thoughts behind them. Try to keep in mind that while the recipent of your gift might not be thrilled in some cases, they may be just as sensible to your good wishes and intentions.

Keep a smile on your face and the joy of the season in your heart!
