Buying an Inexpensive Patio Set

Time to Get Your Money's Worth

When you have a beautiful backyard, you'll find that you and your guests want to spend all of your time back there. In this case, it's important to add patio furniture to your yard. Designs and materials vary greatly between patio sets, which can raise the price. Luckily, you can buy inexpensive patio sets that provide places to sit and surfaces to set food and drinks. Although you may be spending less money, that doesn't mean the quality of your patio set has to be cheap.

Get It On Sale

Wait for sales and discounts. If you have found a specific patio set you like, but it is more expensive than your budget, wait until the price reduces. Most patio sets go on sale, especially toward the end of the summer.

Pick inexpensive patio sets that don't need cushions. Cushions often raise the price of a set, especially if you have to buy them separately. While cushions add a level of comfort, they aren't usually worth the extra price.

Inexpensive Materials

Consider sticking with metal or plastic inexpensive patio sets. When wooden patio furniture is inexpensive, it is often constructed cheaply and isn't as sturdy as it should be. Metal such as wrought iron and stainless steel is sturdier and will be able to handle constant use. Plastic patio furniture sets are the least expensive and can come in a wide range of color while keeping the durability of the material. If you insist on wooden patio furniture, make sure it is screwed together and not stapled and glued.

Sun Protection

Pick a hand-cranked umbrella for sun protection with your inexpensive patio set. While motorized umbrellas and awnings are easier to extend, they are much more expensive. Hand-cranked umbrellas are still simple to extend and will add an inexpensive way to keep you and your guests from the harsh afternoon sun.

Save Money With a Patio Set

Buy as much of your patio furniture in a set as possible. When you have tables and chairs grouped together as a set, there is usually a discount compared to buying each piece individually. If you can include an umbrella and side table with your set, you'll save even more money. As an added bonus, all of the furniture in the inexpensive patio set will match, improving the design of your outdoor garden area.
