Buying Refurbished Digital Cameras Online

Get a Great Camera at a Great Price

Pocket-sized point and shoot digital cameras are everywhere, and with the constant introduction of new technology, prices have dropped dramatically. These simple cameras come with a wide variety of features that are suitable for many users, but if you are looking for more options and more control over exposure times, white balance and focus, a prosumer or an SLR camera may be more appropriate. These cameras offer a level of customization that you can't find in a pocket sized camera, but their prices can put them out of the reach of many amateur photographers. If you find yourself in need of more camera than you can afford, a refurbished camera might be for you. Refurbished cameras are used cameras that have been cleaned and repaired and are offered at up to half the price of a new camera. These cameras often come with a shorter warranty and may not have accessories that were part of the original package, but they do give those on a budget the opportunity to own a high end camera. There are many places on the Internet that sell refurbished and many are not legitimate businesses. They may offer too good to be true prices on cameras and use high pressure techniques to sell overpriced accessories. However, there are many reliable merchants that sell refurbished cameras.

Adorama is well known in photography circles for their large selection and great customer service, but they have a wide selection of refurbished digital cameras as well. A refurbished Canon Digital Rebel XT SLR Camera Body Kit was recently available for $399. A new Canon Digital Rebel XT SLR Camera Body Kit retails for $599. They also have discounted prices on additional lens and accessories.

Newegg.com sells a wide variety of refurbished electronics, and they have a good selection of digital cameras. They primarily sell point and shoot cameras, but you can also get a great deal on a refurbished prosumer camera. On a recent visit a Fujifilm S9000 Black 9.0 MP Digital Camera 10.7X Optical Zoom was available for $499 when other outlets were selling new cameras for $599.

The Refurb Depot sells only refurbished electronics. Their large selection of digital cameras range from simple point and shoots to a Canon EOS Digital Rebel with an 18-55 mm kit for $449. They have a fast moving clearance section that offers extra savings to those that check the site often.

Amazon.com also offers customers the chance to buy refurbished digital cameras through one of their independent partners.

You won't get the newest or most advanced cameras by purchasing a refurbished unit, but with patience and careful research you can find a great deal on a camera that is right for your needs.
