Buzz Gets the Boot on Dancing with the Stars Week 3 Results Show

Kathrine Lloyd
Dancing with the Stars week 3 results show had all of the usual pomp and circumstance that has come to be expected of the results shows. Basically Dancing with the Stars results shows are all about waiting interspersed with the occasional tidbit of relevant information. They do get right down to declaring the first couple safe to keep the audience wondering, but shortly afterwards the audience can feel every moment being dragged out. It's as if they are counting in their heads before they make each announcement in order to ensure that they are burning up enough time to last the full hour.

The first couples declared safe to dance again next week were Aiden and Edyta along with Erin and Maksim. Next Dancing with the Stars began filling time doing the recap of last night's dances along with commentary from the couples explaining what their experiences were like. This is the part where we painfully watch Buzz Aldrin and Kate Gosselin's moves one more time. Meanwhile, lead judge Len Goodman took the opportunity to whine some more about Erin Andrews and Maksim Chmerkovskiy's Waltz and said that he should have given them a lower score.

The encore performance the Dancing with the Stars judges asked to see tonight was Evan Lysacek and partner Anna Trebunskaya's Quickstep. Their performance was full of energy, looked effortless, and they appeared to be genuinely having a good time together. The encore dance was followed by Reba McEntire's performance of "I Want A Cowboy" featuring the DWTS pros complete with unbuttoned flannel shirts, faded blue jeans, fringe that loosely passed for a skirts, and cowboy boots-a definite crowd pleaser.

The next Dancing with the Stars couple declared safe was Niecy and Louis. To allow time for that information to sink in, the crowd was treated to a Paso Doble performed by Derek Hough and Chelsie Hightower followed by interviews back stage with the couples that had been declared safe. The show started to pick up a little momentum, as Derek Hough and Nicole Scherzinger were declared safe to dance again along with Chad Ochocinco and Cheryl Burke followed by another performance by Reba.

Dancing with the Stars got back to the first order of business and burned up more time talking with audience members and showing the process of how the studio is filled with people; as if we couldn't have figured it out on our own. I was then surprised to find out that Pamela Anderson had been spared the harsh glare of the red light tonight. That experience was to be shared by Buzz Aldrin and partner Ashly Costa along with Jake Pavelka and partner Chelsie Hightower.

That's right-Kate Gosselin's robotic Paso Doble wasn't the last we'll be seeing of her on Dancing with the Stars. No doubt her Rumba will be something to see. I think that Dancing with the Stars week 3 results show was fair in the elimination of Buzz Aldrin. The competition will get more serious in the coming weeks and it will be interesting to see who get the ax next. Kate Gosselin's stable of supporters continue to come through for her so far.

I wanted Buzz to catch on and stick around, but I don't think it came naturally to him and they have very little time to learn each new dance. All things considered, I thought he did great. Yes, things will improve when Kate is sent packing!

Buzz, what a sweet elderly gentleman. Still, his dancing was a bit painful to watch. I look for viewers to -- please, please, please -- send Kate home next week!
