By the Light of the Moon

Lisa R. Strong
Day turns into twilight;
Twilight turns to night;
Sailing over the dark waves;
By the light of the moon;
Blue-green water;
Has turned pitch black;
Pinpoint stars above;
Blanket a clear sky;
A fisherman casts his line;
As crickets sing loudly;
In the surrounding woods;
He sips his favorite brew;
Waiting for a fish to bite;
In the stillness that envelops him;
His boat rocks with the waves;
He remembers his life;
Reminiscing of years past;
And of all the people;
He knew and loved in his youth;
Most are gone;
But good memories stayed;
All those years of hard work;
Has led him to this place;
With his beloved at his side;
Upon this beautiful lake;
With rod and reel in hand;
He patiently waits;
While inside his wife is sleeping;
By the light of the moon;
He bows his head in prayer;
And he sheds grateful tears;
For even if he catches nothing;
By his faith he knows;
His net is bulging full.

    Faith can move mountains. Your poems are always vivid and descriptive so the reader can envision themselves in the moments you speak of. Wonderful job. I am playing catch up today so I am reading and commenting on many of your poems that I have missed. Take care.
