What do the numbers say about the state of business for the coming holiday season? For some of the big players it is all good. Companies such as Apple, Playstation, Waterstones, and Freesat are all smiles. With these numbers, it is very easy to see why...Wouldn't you be too?

While Microsoft remains in the MP3 player market with a paltry 1.1 percentage share, Apple dominates the American MP3 player market with a staggering 73.8 per cent market share. Apple has sold over 20 million iPod Touches and over 30 million iPhones.

According to Parks Associates, a consumer research group, the average American household (mom, dad, and the kids) has 120 gigabytes of digital media (digital pictures, mp3 files, digital movies, and miscellaneous computer files and software) stored at home and within various online storage portals.

Waterstone's a British book specialist created in 1982 by Tim Waterstoneand now employs approximately 4,500 workers throughout the United Kingdom and Europe claims it is selling 1 ebook every two minutes from its online bookstore. That's over 700 books per day.

There are currently more Facebook profiles on record than there is total population of the United States. Over 300 million people have signed up and created Facebook profiles to be exact.

Since launching there service in May 2008, Freesat, a free-to-air digital satellite television joint venture between the BBC and ITV plc, serving the United Kingdom, has signed on over 600,000 subscribers. Freesat is the UK's fourth largest TV service.

Apple's Snow Leopard Operating System X, for the Mac computer, has sold twice as many copies in just its first two weeks as its predecessor Leopard OS. This current sales surge is also four times more than the Tiger OS X which was introduced in 2005. The new version of Apple's Snow can be configured to host and operate dual Mac and Microsoft operating systems.

The highest online viewing figure ever recorded was the number of videos watched online by Americans in July, 2009. Over 21.4 billion videos were watched during that month. You Tube videos lead the way with the most visits of any other video hosting sites. Some adult video sites also displayed very impressive viewer numbers.

According to Chart Track, PS3 sales increased 999 per cent in the UK the week the PS3 Slim was released. With its more affordable price and features such as a more compact design with quieter operation; all games display in high-definition; easy-to-use interface; doubles as a Blu-ray and upscale DVD player; built-in Wi-Fi; and a 120GB hard drive its no wonder it is so popular.

Shipment for netbook computers grew 40% over last years. This is double the growth of laptop sales according to DisplaySearch, a market research firm.
