By the Son

An Easter Poem

Charlotte Kuchinsky

This time of year makes me sad.
It marks the death of someone I love.
He made no mistakes;
Deserved no punishment.
All he did was offer love
And for that act
He was at cruelly
Crucified.

Some still deny he exists
Though history has proven them wrong.
Such innate goodness
They cannot comprehend
And yet he died for them too.
To set them free
From the wages of
Mortal sin.

So though I'm sad, I rejoice.
Everyone still gets another chance
To correct the wrongs
And to make their lives whole.
During this one time of the year
All is forgot
And forgiven
By the Son!
