Bye Bye Liver: An Interactive Drinking & Comedy Show in Chicago
Have a Few Drinks and a Few Laughs at the Interactive Drinking Game and Comedy Show in Chicago
If you're wondering what a "drinking play" is, it's as close to the literal imagination of those words that you can get. A handful of actors perform a variety of comedy skits based around drinking. The actors are drinking, although not as much as they would like you to believe, and of course the audience is drinking as well.
Among the skits on one night were "The Least Interesting Man in the World" a play on the Dos Equis commercials and scenes diving into the world of one night stands and relationships. All of the skits enjoy the presence of a comedic pianist of sorts, adding some tunes and timely jokes.
Interspersed with the skits come the interactive drinking games. There are a variety of go-to drinking games that the actors call upon, and they pick out random audience members to be involved. Games include a variation of "Never Have I Ever" and a "Guess That Song" game with a few twists.
In a small room with perhaps 20 or 30 tables and a capacity of at most 80-100 people it's easy to get chosen as a participant. Avoid eye contact at your own risk, as it's a surefire way to get picked on.
As you might expect, an interactive comedy performance slash drinking game attracts an eclectic crowd. A bachelorette party, groups of older adults, couples and younger groups (but all 21+) were present on one Saturday evening.
Tickets are $15 so it'll set you back more than a movie, but less than a trip to a comedy club. Plus the drinks are all reasonably priced, with mixed drinks costing $4 and buckets of beer available, so altogether it's an affordable evening and a unique way to spend a night out or get a night started. The show lasts for about 75 minutes, although later shows sometimes extend on for longer periods.
Bye Bye Liver: The Chiacago Drinking Play is located at The Pub Theater, at 3220 N. Lincoln Ave in Chicago. It's actually the upper floor of a busy bar, so don't be caught off guard if you don't see it from the street.
Performances for Bye Bye Liver: The Chicago Drinking Play do sell out so you should buy your tickets ahead of time. For more information you can visit their website http://www.byebyeliver.com/.
