C2E2 Pictures from the 2010 Convention

The 2010 Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo filled most of the Lakeside Center right in downtown Chicago, along the Michigan river. The con's biggest attractions included the Exhibit Hall, which was hundreds of thousands of square feet, dozens of guests, and lots of panels & events happening throughout the weekend.

We have a few hundred C2E2 Pictures posted on UpcomingCons.com - Most of the pictures are from Friday and Sunday; we missed most of Saturday's events due to a meeting out of state.

Many attendees, but probably no more than 10%, came in costume to the convention. There were a few Storm Troopers, the occasional bunny-girl, and even a few sets of cat-ears. This was quite different than with anime conventions that have a large percentage of attendees in costume. At anime conventions, there are costumes from all the popular video games and anime shows, but here there were only a few. They were a bit varied, however, as we saw several video game outfits along with the comic book heroes - and a surprising low number of cheap Halloween costumes of Batman or The Flash.

The convention attracted a nice size crowd of attendees, but not yet comparative to the other comic cons and other festivals run by Reed Pop, the division of Reed that focuses on these popular culture conventions. The conventions include Chicago's Comic & Entertainment Expo, New York Anime Festival, New York Comic Con, and a few others - New York Comic Con had an estimated 77,000 attendees in 2009.

C2E2 was a success in many areas. They had dozens of unique, interesting panels - with talks covering everything from author Q&As, a motion comic screening, and even several educational discussions on comic book creation. There were dozens of exhibitors and independent artists as well, which were surely vital to the convention's overall attendee-impression. They also were on Twitter all weekend, answering attendee questions.
