Cab Fare Gone Wrong

Someone was knocking on the door of Roger's apartment. Roger nervously answered the door and found two police officers on the other side. "May we come in and ask you a few questions, sir?" Roger wanted to slam the door but he knew he had to comply with their request.

After answering their questions vaguely he finally decided to spill everything that had happened the night before, to get it off his chest. "This is what happened," Roger proclaimed. "In my rearview mirror I saw a man hurriedly climb into the back seat of my cab. He was sweating profusely and was carrying a huge bag. I got a really uneasy feeling about this..."

"Drive!" The man yelled.

"This cab is out of service," I tried to tell the man.

The next thing I know I'm looking down the barrel of a gun. "I don't think you understand English," the man continued, "Put this car in drive and put your foot on the petal, Now!"

Roger explained to the officers that he decided to listen because he didn't want this crazy man to kill him and leave his wife and two children behind. He drove as fast as he could, running stop signs and red lights. He secretly hoped a cop would pull him over so he can be done with this crazy fare. Unfortunately, he made it to the destination of this crazy man with no cops in sight. He stopped in front of a run down apartment building and not the best area of town. At least he's done with this guy, or so he thought. The man got out but climbed into the front seat.

"I'm going to need you to stay here and wait for me." The man says.

"Sure, I will wait" Roger said, but knowing all well that he's planning on speeding like hell out of there as soon as the guy goes inside.

"Just to ensure you don't try anything..." he said as he quickly grabbed something shiny out of his pocket which Roger feared was a knife for a split second. He threw handcuffs on his wrist and cuffed him to the steering wheel and grabbed the keys out of the ignition. "I'll be back, be ready," he warned.

Roger continues his story for the officers... a few minutes later the guy emerged from the run down apartment carrying another bag. He jumped in the front seat and put the keys back in the ignition and that's when Roger noticed blood on his hands. The guy gave Roger more instructions on where to go. He stopped in front of another building and they go though the same routine with the cuffs and the keys, and emerged again with another bag. "One more stop, pull over at this park."

Roger almost expected to be cuffed again, but is surprised when the man grabbed the bags out of the back seat, threw a couple hundred dollar bills his way and took off running through the deserted park.

"And that's the last I saw of him. I wasn't sure what to do or what to think, I sat there stunned for a few minutes. I thought about going to the police, but I didn't have proof of any crimes committed. I was so exhausted, dumbfounded, and grateful to be alive that I just went home."

The police officers looked at each other for a moment and then back at Roger. "Sir, do you realize you just admitted to being an accessory to murder?"

"Murder? No, I don't know of any murders," Roger stammered.

"You'll have to come with us, and give us your statement at the station."

"What? Why? I was just doing my job!" Roger cried out.The officers put handcuffs on Roger and read him his rights...
