With companies like Sony paying millions for graphic laced game engines it's nice to see a free title with graphics nearly as good as the big boys. Cabal has great graphics. The creatures are interesting, if not the most diverse. The world is rich in setting. The characters are beautifully designed, with armor upgrades that can create a wonderful array of diverse people to populate the world.

Cabal is set up into three worlds. The swampy Green Despair, glacial Bloody Ice, and the golden Desert Scream. Each world has its own type of creatures to fight, and the farther you go into their mazes the harder the creatures are to fight.

Questing is simple. Most quests involve killing a certain amount of creatures, finding an item, or going to talk to another NPC. They always tell you where to find the creatures, and quests are easy to find. Most are marked by floating scrolls over an NPC.

Music for Cabal is soothing, and fits the world you are in, however I prefer to turn it off since it doesn't match well with battles. In game sound affects, on the other hand, are great for spells, battles, and even water falls.

This is mainly a hack and slash game, with lots of creatures to kill, and little to no strategy beyond upgrading your equipment and spells, but the exploration alone makes Cabal worth a run through.

While you can group, it isn't the easiest system to use for grouping. I was never sure if my partner and I were both getting credit for quest kills, though we did get experience. If you could get a large group to go after some bigger monsters it might be worth the experience.

If you choose you can also pay for upgrades like pets, exclusive armor, and access to more quests. The pets are the most popular ranging from cute, adorable big eyed lion cubs, to things a little tougher. You can also get blessing beads that let you up stats higher then usual, and other items.

On the whole I think Cabal is one of the best free MMORPGs on the net. With new updates in only promises to get better.
