After looking at a recent cable television bill many start to wonder if the cable expense is really worth the programming they receive each month. It seems like every month the cable cost rises even higher. And a question often arises. Should you ditch Cable TV for Internet TV in order to save money? Some think that cable television is strictly a luxury or even a waste of money. And of course, budget conscious consumers probably would prefer an alternative and free way to watch many of their favorite television shows. So, let's take a look at the advantages and disadvantages associated with Cable and Internet TV.

Cable Television Advantages & Disadvantages

Let's begin by saying that much depends on the cable television company that handles all your cable services. All cable companies are not the same. So, what are the cable television advantages? Well, according to many cable services their subscribers are on the cutting edge of technology. They receive the best digital quality television programming available, sports entertainment, top movies, interactive television programming, and much more. The disadvantages are that you have to install their digital box and pay a monthly fee for the box. And of course all those charges for the service. Not to mention extra charges for watching sports events, or renting movies.

Internet Television Advantages & Disadvantages

Those with fast Internet service have wide access to thousands of television programs from across the globe. And yes, many of them are your favorite television programs that are watched on cable like Burn Notice, White Collar, Eureka, South Park, and more. There are also plenty of the old classic television shows available like Matlock, Lost in Space, Star Trek for viewing via an Internet connection. But biggest advantages are that you are able to watch this programming any time of the day or night. And of course the programs are free to watch. Disadvantages are that a fast Internet connection is needed for properly viewing streaming programs. And only a select few episodes of your favorite programs might be available on Internet TV.

After weighing in on all the advantages and disadvantage to both sources you might be ready to make a decision. So, whether you decide to ditch cable and watch Internet TV is ultimately up to you. There is no right or wrong choice. Thanks to the changes in technology consumers have many alternatives available. Which is a good thing.
