Cafe World on Facebook: A Guide for Getting Started

Zynga, the development team behind Mafia Wars and FarmVille have released a new game for Facebook, called Café World. The game play is pretty similar to that of Farmville, and this guide will help you get started in no time.

The premise behind Café World is that you are opening a café. You cook and serve different dishes and upgrade your café to attract more customers.

Like FarmVille and YoVille, there is some character customization, but it is best to wait for customization, of yourself and your shop, until you get a decent income coming in. My sister decorated her shop until the only food she could afford to cook were Bacon Cheeseburgers, which require you to be online to serve them every five minutes.

When you first start playing, you will have three stoves, three serving tables, and four tables and chairs. New tables and chairs are one of the best investments you can make, as are extra stoves and serving tables when they are available.

When laying out your café, it is important to note that only one customer will sit at a table at a time. It is pointless then to place multiple chairs around one table, because only one will get used.

To make a dish, click on an unused stove. Your recipe book will open. Select the dish you want to make. Pay close attention to the cook time. Food spoils fast after it is finished cooking, so make sure you will be online when it is finished.

When you are just getting started, make several of one dish. In the beginning, you will probably be making either the Bacon Cheeseburgers or the Super Chunk Fruit Salad. These require you to pretty much be on the computer the whole time, since their cook times are five and fifteen minutes, respectively. However, they are inexpensive and if you make a lot of them at first, you will not run out of food for a little while.

After you select the dish to make, there is a pause while your character gathers the ingredients. Then there are three steps for each dish. They are called different things, but they are just clicks, so wait until each one is done and then click again to do the next food preparation step. After these steps the food will begin cooking. You can hover over each stove to see the cook time remaining.

If you have Café World running in the background, there is a little twinkly noise when your food is ready to be served. Just click on the stove to carry the dish to the serving table. Click the stove again to clean it and make another dish.

Make sure you have a waiter hired and they will deliver the food to your customers.

After you build up some of the Bacon Cheeseburgers and the Super Chunk Fruit Salad, then the more expensive dishes are a good option so you don't have to be constantly at the computer. The French Onion Soup finishes in four hours and the Triple Berry Cheesecake finishes in twelve.

Make sure you continue to get more tables and chairs so your new customers will have a place to sit down.

Invite your friends to your café. You can get money and experience, called café points, for visiting their cafes once a day. Having your friends as your neighbors also allows you to expand your café and get more floor space.

You can send free gifts to your friends. These are drinks that, when used, give you money for each customer in your café.
Your buzz rating, located in the upper right corner of the screen, is determined by how many happy customers you have. This rating is important because it determines how many customers you have.

One last tip is that you can click on the name of your café at the top right of the screen and change its name.
