Cage Cleaning and Deodorizing Spray for Birds, Ferrets, and Other Small Animals

Sophia Moon
We have eight parakeets, three ferrets, and a chinchilla that share our home environment. If they are not cleaned up after properly, our environment would get dirty and smelly. For the health of your pet and overall cleanliness and health of your whole family, keeping things sanitary is very important.

The fact is, poop stinks. Poop stinks because of bacteria that produces a bunch of organic, sulfur-rich compounds that create the odor (Anonymous, n.d.). If our parakeets, ferrets, and chinchilla had the ability to use flush-able facilities as we do, we could eliminate most of that stink. Since that is not so, we know as long as we take responsibility for our pets, we will be cleaning up lots of poop.

We tried disinfectant wipes to clean up our furry friends' cages. Although I'm sure they were effective in disinfecting, they were not sufficient for deodorizing. I went on a search for a product that would both disinfect and deodorize. I was also looking for a product that would be safe and gentle to our furry loved ones.

A 16 ounce bottle of Fresh Results Cage Cleaning and Deodorizing Spray for Birds and Small Animals costs less than ten dollars at Wal-Mart. The ingredients are water, Nature's Enzymes, Isopropyl Alcohol, and Natural Citrus Scent. A little of this concentrated formula goes a long way. It is safe for the environment, non-toxic, non-acidic, non-flammable, and safe on colors and all water-safe surfaces.

Especially for our muskier critters, our ferrets, the deodorizing benefits of this product are wonderful. Truth be told, our three ferrets each have their own unique odor. If I was blindfolded and went by smell alone I could tell you who is who since Viktor smells a bit like chocolate, Dexter usually smells a lot like Frito's, and Dmitri smells like honey. Even though their individual musky scents may not be unpleasant, ferrets eat and poop often. Having Fresh Results cage spray has eliminated the strong odors from the cage they sleep in at night. We can all breathe easier.
