Cajun's Wharf

Little Rock, Arkansas

Cajun's Wharf is located at 2400 Cantrell Road in Little Rock, Arkansas 72202. Their telephone number is 501-375-5351. If you know your way around Little Rock really good there is probably a faster way to get there but if you are not familiar with the area take the Cantrell Road exit on Interstate 430. This should be exit 9. You want to go east on Cantrell Road. Go past the Little Rock Resevoir Park and Allsopp Park. When you go past Knoop Park (on your right) and Razorback Square Shopping Center (on your left), you need to be ready to make a left turn onto N. Cantrell Road. You will go over railroad tracks and do not be alarmed if at first you do not see the restaurant. The restaurant is partially concealed by other buildings. We went on a Friday night around 8:30 PM and the parking lot was very full but we did find parking.

We went to celebrate a wedding so we reserved a special room for our group. According to my source there are four of these rooms and they normally have to be reserved. The decor of our room was very unique. The walls were railroad ties and all of the signs and pictures on the walls were related to vineyards or wines. As we made our way to the room you almost felt like you were in a maze or even a dungeon. It kind of closes in on you but I thought it was an extremely cool place.

The restaurant also has a bar and live entertainment. Be sure and check their website before you go so you can see what is going on while you are there (www.cajunswharf.com/). The service we received was above average. Our waiter was attentive and kept our glasses filled the entire time. We never had any issues.

I ate at the restaurant with a group of 10 people and while I will primarily discuss my ticket, I will also touch on the meals that other people in our group had. I had the Pasta Orleans. It had Crawfish, Shrimp, and Andouille Sausage. It was made with fettucine pasta and covered with a cream sauce that included rosemary and tomatoes among other items. It was absolutely delicious. I would order it again in a heartbeat. They provide you with bread and be sure that you use this bread to dry up the remaining sauce on your plate. This was more than enough food for me but if you are starving you might need something a little bigger. My wife ordered the Crab Au Gratin. It is an appetizer and the menu says that it is a "delicate casserole of lump crabmeat and Creole spices topped with creamy cheddar." I tried it and I was not to big on it but my wife did enjoy it. It was not something that she just absolutely loved.

The total price of our ticket was $30.90. The Crab Au Gratin was $7.95 and the Pasta Orleans was $15.95. We both ordered water. The subtotal of our ticket was $23.90. Tax was $2.27 and since we had a large group we had 18% gratuity added to our check ($4.71) for a total of $30.90. The place is definitely a little pricey. I would compare it to Red Lobster and Olive Garden but a little more expensive. Maybe way more expensive depending on what you order. Be sure and check out the menu online (www.cajunswharf.com/menu/restaurant/appetizers/) before you go.

One member of our party had the Shrimp Platter and he said that he normally does not love shrimp but found this dish amazing. Another member of our party had the Cajun Catfish and they really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, at the time I am writing this only two additional members of our party were available to comment. With that being said, I did not hear any complaints from anybody last night. Everybody seemed to really enjoy their meal.

I would definitely recommend eating at Cajun's Wharf. It is a little pricey but it is also a little more upscale than most places. In my opinion, it is a place you would eat at if you were celebrating a rather large occasion. Some people may be able to eat there regularly but not this couple. I would not be doing my job if I failed to mention the important fact that this place does overlook the Arkansas River. It was kind of dark but from what I could tell the main seating area looks out over the river and there is also seating in a veranda type setting that overlooks the river. Be sure and visit Cajun's Wharf next time you are in Little Rock.
