Cake Mania 2 is another point and click game from Sandlot. As with many sequels, this one mimics the first one more than one would like; after purchasing this game I felt very let down in the fact that it didn't give me anymore of challenge than I had found from the original Cake Mania.

In Cake Mania, one and two, you are timed at how fast you can whip up cakes and decorate them to the customer's request. Some of the customers seem to have no patience so it is a race of the clock for them. The cakes go from simple to complex. Some customers prefer a double decker cake with a crown topper while others keep it simple with just a single layer chocolate heart cake.

The same characters seem to appear in both versions of the game; although there are a few new ones. There are couples who show up, both wanting different items, so it does make it more of a challenge to get through the level.

The only real difference seems to be of the story plot itself. In Cake Mania 2 the story does pick up where part 1 left off at. You are asked, in part 2, which person you would like to help. So that added part to this game does give you a little more choices and you can go back to choose the other options after you finish playing the game through.

As with Cake Mania 1, part 2 also offers upgrades after each level. You can purchase bigger, faster, better ovens and frosting trays. You can also purchase goodies to hold over the customers while you bake their cakes to perfection. This version also offers the television so you can keep the customers in line a little happier during their wait.

The graphics in Cake Mania 2 are as cute as in part 1. The cartoon people, atmosphere and bakeries are very pleasing to the eye. The music, on the other hand, is some what annoying. I do suggest just leaving your sound off while playing either version of this game.

All in all Cake Mania 2 is a pretty good game. I believe any age would love this game; in fact it may be a good choice for your young teen. It could show them just a little inside view of what running a business and time management is like. I would have preferred that Sandlot had done more to spice it up and make it different, but I did find it challenging and fun.

I love to read and even more love to write. If there is something to learn out there I am up to my elbows in it. Researching just about everything is only one of my many interests.  View profile
