Cakes for Kids, Opens in Fort Worth

Dot Casey
A sweet new charity has arrived in Fort Worth, Cakes for Kids Fort Worth provides birthday cakes to the children of families experiencing economic hardships. Without the help of Cakes for Kids, these children would not be able to have a cake, some have never had a birthday cake. The chapters are run solely by volunteers who spend their own time and money, creating and decorating the birthday cakes. Fort Worth's chapter will be headed up by, Dorothy Arrington, the current owner of The Purple Cupcake. Ms. Arrington has over a decade of experience with cake decorating and working with children.

The international charity, was orginally founded by Toni Poulos, who came up with the idea while working with foster kids. The motto of its volunteers is that, every kid deserves a spectacular birthday cake. Today Cakes for Kids chapters stretch across the globe, with Texas having close to 20 chapters.

Cakes for Kids Fort Worth is currently looking for volunteers, you don't have to be a baker or cake decorator to volunteer. The charity is in need of bakers/decorators, delivery drivers, and individuals to help with membership and marketing. To learn more about the charity visit: http://www.freecakesforkids.com.
