Released in January 2011, Folk/Pop group and Nashville, Tennessee residents Tin Cup Gypsy are turning heads and gaining attention from listeners with their tight harmonies, inspiring lyrics, and unique musical styles on their debut album Calico. With great collaborations from Grammy-award winning Engineers including James Waddell, Steve Bishir, Billy Whittington, and Gary Paczosa, the members of Tin Cup Gypsy are able to showcase a unique sound on the album as Drummer Tyler Oban recently stated, "Calico is a word that describes variety and that is especially true with our record. It is a true collection of diverse sounding songs that somehow all tie together to create something unique." Band members Jordan Lawson (Vocals, Violin, Mandolin), Cassandra Lawson (Vocals, Percussion), Jonathan Lawson (Vocals, Guitar), and Tyler Oban (Drums) collaborate on the songwriting aspect of the band while providing great instrumentations throughout the 10-track album. Recommended songs from the album include "Words", "To The Sea", and "Chase The Sun".

Vocalist Cassandra Lawson, wife of Guitarist/Vocalist Jonathan Lawson, delivers a beautiful arrangement with her sweet, Jazz/Blues-filled voice on the song "Words". Through the song, Lawson showcases her strong vocal talents while singing about broken promises made during a failing relationship. The lyrics, "...It's time that someone called you out/Cause you read your words like Shakespeare/When you're done I have a doubt.../" display the thoughts of one frustrated with the negatives in the relationship.

While "Words" focuses on the negative feelings in the relationship, the ballad "To The Sea" takes a more sentimental approach as the song describes the thoughts of one as they reflect on the loss of their love. Drummer/Songwriter Tyler Oban explains the thoughts behind creating the song, "We attempted to put ourselves into the role of an old man who has lost his love. He is standing at the shoreline lamenting and waiting for the day the sea will reclaim his heart and they can be together." Considered as the band's favorite track off of the album, the lyrics, "...Oh my love, how can this be/That you have left me for the sea/And now my heart seems like a stone/Cause I must sail this World alone/To the sea, to the sea.../" provide an emotional feel behind the song. Engineers Steve Bishir and Gary Paczosa were able to capture the pure essence of the song, while creating this standalone story. The emotional impact felt by each listener, while listening to the lyrics of Calico, leave memorable impressions on the members of Tin Cup Gypsy. "Every few shows someone from the audience will tell us that we made them cry because of song lyrics or a certain memory that we conjured up," states Oban, "It is wonderful to know that people are listening to the music without being distracted by the performance. They are truly connecting."

On the up-beat track "Chase The Sun", Tin Cup Gypsy change tunes while showcasing their unique Folk-inspired styles and tight harmonies portrayed throughout the chorus. By playing instruments such as the Acoustic Guitar, Violin, Mandolin, and Concertina on "Chase The Sun", Tin Cup Gypsy represent a strong similarity the sounds/styles associated with Country/Folk trio Nickel Creek. With strong instrumentations supporting both Folk and Retro-Swing, the song is quickly gaining momentum across the Country. The lyrics, "...If time can take/Your life away/Before you know, the shadows fall and go/Face to grave/And I am gonna chase the sun.../" display the thoughts of one in feeling energetic and young while enjoying life to the fullest.

In Winter of 2010, shortly before the album's release, the members of Tin Cup Gypsy were given the unique opportunity to appear as the opening act for Country-music singer Sara Evans during her 2010 tour. According to BroadwayWorld.com, Sara Evans recently praised Tin Cup Gypsy while saying, "They have it all. An incredible blend of so many styles and sounds, but done in a way that I've never heard before...It's a sound as familiar as a newborn morning, in a place you've never been before." Since releasing Calico, the band have been busy touring across the Country while promoting the album. Since March of 2011, Tin Cup Gypsy have been touring extensively throughout states such as Illinois, Ohio, New York, and their own hometown of Nashville, Tennessee. On March 24, the members of Tin Cup Gypsy joined forces with Celtic Woman's Orla Fallon to provide the ultimate concert experience for listeners. With the tour ending the first week of May, Tin Cup Gypsy are staying busy with various concerts and events around the Country in promotion of Calico.
