California Sea Lion

Abby Normal
I'm a California Sea Lion
I live by Pier 39
Come out and see me
when you have the time

There are hundreds of us here
that you can get to know
Come out - have lunch
we'll put on a show

I'll walk on my flippers
and bark like a dog
I can even ride the waves
in the San Francisco fog

I have blubber and fur
so I will not freeze
But you may need a jacket
in the chilly sea breeze

On nice warm days
I like to bask in the sun
Please no photos
when the mating's begun

In eleven months
we'll have a "pup"
He'll gain hundreds of pounds
before he's a grownup

He'll have big brown eyes
and flaps to cover his ears
Seals do not and they're
our closest peers

We eat octopus, fish
and slippery squid
Come out and visit us
you'll be glad you did
