What this ruling probably means for the people of California is that they will maybe see the same straight-oriented outrage that Massachusetts received in the media after they became the first state to allow same-sex unions. The issues on both sides are clear. There are those who believe in only traditional unions, and those who believe in traditional underground union formats.
Both sides to the same-sex marriage arguments are correct in their beliefs; for without those people all being allowed to be correct within their personal beliefs, my belief system is the only correct belief system on the planet and that will never do. In simple words, the decision to marry or not to marry is between the people making that decision; it is not my business.
For those who are strongly against gay and lesbian marriage, do you really think that the lack of a marriage license is going to change one iota about their living situation? It is silly to argue that point. People will continue to be people, they will do what they feel is the best thing to do with their personal situation.
No, I am not against same-sex unions. My personal gripes are within the problem areas of gangs, child abuse, and drugs. Happy people don't normally offend me.
The gay marriage issue does not seem to be about marriage, it seems to only be about anti-gay hate issues. Those against same-sex people legalizing their union are not fighting the idea the marriage has legal responsibilities and benefits that the partners share.
Instead those who fight so hard against the same-sex marriage issue normally only seem to be concerned about what goes on in the privacy of a bedroom. Or, what their children might think about two same-sex people sharing the house next door. And, these issues are not those associated with a legal marriage arrangement.
In this country, it was not that long ago when females could not vote, when minorities could not vote, when the handicapped took jobs at the circus as the only option for employment, and when only a handful of American's could claim that this was their country. The people who prefer same-sex unions should have the same rights that the rest of us now enjoy. I am happy that California overturned the ban today. We don't need any more unequal rights in this country.
Happy Weddings, Folks!
