If you are planning a trip to Napa Valley, California, a limo wine tour is an absolute must! My husband and I visited Napa Valley in February for the first time and decided to book a limo wine tour with California Wine Tours and Transportation. It was the best thing we did while we were in that area. Below, you will find useful information about the tour.

California Wine Tours offers daily limo wine tours through Napa Valley and Sonoma Valley. You can chose to book either a private or a public tour. There is a considerable cost difference - the limo tour that we took through Napa Valley was the public tour, and it cost us $69 per person (plus gratuity and license fee). The private tours begin at $50 per hour for a sedan. The 10 seat stretch limo (which is what we were on in the public tour) is $80 per hour (plus gratuity and license fee). The private tours generally have a 4 hour minimum. To see rates for all types of vehicles, please visit http://www.californiawinetours.com/rates.html.

The public tour that we chose picked us up at our hotel, the Embassy Suites, at 10:30 AM. The limo driver came into the lobby and got us. We felt like royalty being escorted to the limo. We learned that there would be only 1 other couple on our tour, so we headed to pick them up from the Marriot in Napa. These are the 2 hotels in Napa that are pickup locations for California Wine Tours.

The tour began at 10:30 when we were picked up, and ended at 3:40 PM when we were dropped back off at out hotel. On the way to the first winery, we were given a complementary champagne toast. There are five wineries on the list to visit. They are : Cosentino winery, Miner Family Winery, V. Sattui, Merryvale winery and Andretti winery. At each winery, we were given approximately 30 minutes to sample and make purchases. Samples at each winery generally cost $10 - $15 per person. We had lunch at V. Sattui. We were given longer so that we could enjoy their fresh deli, which was phenomenal. It featured many different types of sandwiches and cheeses, among other goodies. An itinerary of the tour can be found at http://www.californiawinetours.com/tour_napa_pub.html.

The chauffeur was excellent. He gave us historical information about the area, and about wine making in general. He was extremely courteous and polite and we will definitely book another trip with California Wine Tours next time we are in Napa.

Before booking the limo tour, my husband and I debated saving money and driving ourselves. I am so glad that we did not go that route. By riding in the limo, we got to relax and enjoy the area much more. I thought that by only sampling wine, we would be fine to drive ourselves between the wineries. I was terribly wrong. After the 2nd winery, I was beginning to feel 'loopy'. It is a good thing we signed up for the tour!

I encourage you to visit the California Wine Tour website, http://www.californiawinetours.com/index.html, and decide which tour would be right for you. Next time you go to Napa Valley (or Sonoma Valley), I highly recommend booking a California Wine Tour in advance - it is money very well spent!
