California's 2010 Recruiting Class Highly Touted
The Bear's are losing S Marcus Ezeff and S Brett Johnson to graduation. LB's Eddie Young and Devin Bishop's four years of eligibility are also up. Last season Sophomore S Sean Cattouse got a lot of playing time and finished the season with 37 tackles and 1 INT and he should start at one of the S positions in 2010. The Bears return LB's Michael Mohamed (112 tackles, 3 INT's and 2 sacks) and Mychal Kendricks (71 tackles) and they lose LB's Eddie Young and Devin Bishop to graduation. Incoming Freshmen Keenan Allen and Chris Martin will have a chance to start and make an immediate contribution to the defense in 2010.
Depending on what scouting service you prefer Cal finished with either the 2nd or 3rd best recruiting class in the Pac Ten. All these highly ranked recruits will have to prove if they were worthy of all these accolades when the 2010 season begins. One reason USC has been on top for so long is due to their recruits ability to come in and live up to their reputation. If Chris Martin and Keenan Allen are as good as advertised then they should make an impact this fall. With all the talent that Tedford brought in this year the key to the Bear's future success will depend on how well the coaching staff gets these players to play to their potential.
