With the Californication Season 3 premier looming close, fans wait anxiously for David Duchovny and company to razzle and dazzle once again. In Season 3 the audience can expect more ludicrous run-ins and off-color diatribes from the infamous Hank Moody.

For those of you who don't know what the hype is all about, here's the lowdown to get you going. Californication centers on Hank Moody, a New York writer trapped in Los Angeles riding out his previous novel's fame while struggling to regain control of his broken life. In between frequent alcohol binges and one-night stands, Hank tries to win back the heart of his ex-girlfriend with whom he has a young daughter. The show pivots on clever dialogue, sympathetic characters, and racy plot devices. Outstanding musical selections as well as throwback 90s-style montages round out the mix and set Californication apart from the other drab TV dramas.

The last season of Californication ended with Hank and his daughter in Los Angeles watching soul mate/mother Karen drive into the eastern dusk to pursue a profitable career in eco-architecture back in the Big Apple. If the recent departure of his fair maiden weren't enough, Moody must also find a way to regain ownership of his prized manuscript from the 16-year-old seductress Mia who is successfully passing it off as her own novel. The task would be easy if Hank hadn't slept with Mia back in the pilot episode. The legal ramifications of that fateful night are very clear to Mia who holds the unholy meeting as blackmail for the manuscript.

Witty, sexually deviant, inconsolably broken-hearted Hank Moody will take to the small screen on September 27, 2009 at 10:00 PM EST when Californication starts up again. In the meantime, fans new and old will have to bide their time watching the past two seasons on DVD to get their Californication fix. Let the countdown begin.
