Call of Duty 4 Online: Ranking the Sub-Machine Guns

Halo 3 seemed to have an iron grip on the console first-person shooter game, but Call of Duty 4 came out and was shockingly able to surpass it simply because it's such an excellent game. In this article I will break down the strengths and weaknesses of each sub-machine gun in Call of Duty 4 online for XBox 360 and Ps3. Sub-machine guns are best for close-quarters combat and are also lightweight, allowing you to move around freely through each level. Here are the rankings:

5. Skorpion-

This gun is an absolute joke. It has a high rate of fire which would be great except for the fact that the clip is so small you'll be reloading constantly. The power is not great and the range is just atrocious, so you shouldn't even think about firing at someone who's not close to you. If you want to try out this gun, you should definitely go with the sleight of hand perk so that you actually have a chance to shoot without constantly being forced to reload slowly.

4. Ak-74u-

This gun is very inconsistent and has some bad recoil on it. The accuracy is very hit-or-miss as well so many firefights become adventures. The power is pretty good, however, but there are much better guns both in this class in Call of Duty 4 and in other classes.

3. Mini-Uzi-

Not the best gun in the game by any means but a solid option if you like to fight in close. The fire rate is insane and the power is solid. Putting a silencer on this gun and running around through a close-quarters map like Vacant is a good option for using this gun.

2. MP5-

This is one of the best guns in the game and is excellent among sub-machine guns in Call of Duty 4 as well. The recoil is not all that high and the range is deceptively good. Head shots are also easy to pull off with this gun, even with the iron sight which allows you to see the target better than others. This weapon is great for spraying multiple enemies, especially if you have stopping power equipped as a perk.

1. P90-

This gun is the best of the lot and easily one of the best overall in the game for online play. It has impeccable accuracy as it pretty much shoots in a straight line and the rate of fire is astounding. It doesn't have very good penetration abilities unlike other top guns but it is still excellent from close range and it's also better from far away than most people expect.
