Call of Duty: Black Ops - Confirmed Killstreaks with Descriptions

They're Your Kills, Reward Yourself How You Want To

Call of Duty: Black Ops, the highly anticipated upcoming installment in the series for gamers all around, already has a list of confirmed killstreaks. For those of you who don't know what killstreaks are in the Call of Duty games, they're simply rewards for getting continuous kills without dying yourself. For example, there is a killstreak called the "Spy Plane" in Call of Duty: Black Ops. In order to get this killstreak (I'll give you a description and information about this killstreak later in this article) you need to get 3 consecutive kills without dying. When you die the counter for the killstreaks reset to zero, so you'll need to build it up again in order to acquire your wanted killstreaks.

In the past Call of Duty game, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, there was a list of killstreaks that you could choose from, rather than in past games where the killstreaks were preset (Example: Call of Duty: World at War - 3 kills are a Recon Plane, 5 kills nets you Artillery Strike, and 7 kills grants you Attack Dogs). In Call of Duty: Black Ops, you will be able to choose from a list of killstreaks to choose from. However, you will have to unlock these killstreaks as you progress further into the multiplayer aspect of the game.

The following is a list of confirmed killstreaks for Call of Duty: Black Ops, as well as a decription:

Spy Plane (3 kills) - The Spy Plane is essentially the same killstreak as the Recon Plane from Call of Duty: World at War and the UAV from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. What this killstreak does is shows the enemies are on the mini-map at the top of the screen. This killstreak lasts for a set duration of time and can be shot down by the enemy team.

RC-XD (3 kills) - The RC-XD is a remote control car strapped with C4. The way this killstreak is controlled is exactly how players controlled the Predator Missle and other computer-controlled killstreaks were used. While in use the player controlling the RC-XD killstreak are completely vulnerable to enemy players. It's safe to assume, just like in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's controllable killstreaks, that even when a player dies while in mid-control of a controllable killstreak they will still control the killstreak. However, when they are done using it they will respawn as if they were just killed.

Counter Spy Plane (4 kills) - The Counter Spy Plane is the same thing as the CUAV in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. What this killstreak does is block out the enemies mini-map so they cannot see your locations when you fire, blocks their Spy Plane if you call them in within the same window of time, and blocks the enemy from seeing your air support on the mini-map as well.

SAM Turret (4 kills) - The SAM Turret is an anti-aircraft turret. The SAM Turret may be placed at a location athe discretion of the player that has acquired the killstreak. The good thing about using this killstreak is that you won't have th lug around a rocket launcher, which frees you up some space.

Care Package (5 kills) - Initially introduced in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, the Care Package allows you to throw down a marker. Within a specific amount of time (I'd say about 5-10 seconds) an aircraft drops down a package containing a random killstreak (or ammo). Be careful, as these packages can be stolen by other players.

It's also been stated that these Care Packages can be booby-trapped, and also may contain two specific guns only obtainable through Care Packages.

Napalm Strike (5 kills) - The Napalm Strike is one of the newer killstreak ideas. Basically what this killstreak does is it sends a plane overhead that drops slow-burning napalm to burn your enemies.

Sentry Gun (6 kills) - The Sentry Gun was another killstreak utilized in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The Sentry Gun is a highly versatile killstreak that is best when used in open, high places. However, take caution, as sentry guns can be temporarily disabled by concussion grenades. This killstreak is placeable by the player whom has acquired the killstreak.

Mortar Stike (6 kills) - This killstreak reminds me of the Artillery killstreak from Call of Duty: World at War. The difference between the two is that with the Mortar Strike killstreak you select three location targets for attack. The way in which the player selects these locations is by using markers on a map.

Attack Helicopter (7 kills) - The Attack Heicopter is another rehashed killstreak that has been used in the past few Call of Duty games. The Attack Helicopter circles the map shooting at enemies. The killstreak is automatic once called in, meaning that the player whom has called it in has no control whatsoever as to what the Attack Helicopter does or goes. When an Attack Helicopter is in play it can be seen on the mini-map.

Valkyrie Rockets (7 kills) - This is one of the newer killstreaks to the Call of Duty series. The Valkyrie Rockets are dropped in a Care Package type of box. These rockets are controlled in the first person by the player and can be detonated at the player's discretion. When this killstreak is obtained you acquire two missles. Another perk to the Valkyrie Rockets is that you can give them a speed boost and they have a moderate explosion radius. The rockets also have a limited fuel supply indicated by a green bar on the screen as well.

Blackbird (8 kills) - The Blackbird is essentially a glorified Spy Plane. What this killstreak does is show enemies on the mini-map. However, when the Blackbird is used (when compared to the Spy Plane) you see the direction in which enemies are facing on the mini-map. The Blackbird cannot be shot down by the enemy team, either.

Rolling Thunder (8 kills) - Essentially the same thing as the Stealth Bomber from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. When the killstreak is used you select a location on the map to carpet bomb with explosives.

Chopper Gunner (9 kills) - The Chopper Gunner is one of the most favored killstreaks in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, as it is basically the golden gate to getting a Nuke. However, in Call of Duty: Black Ops things will be different. The Chopper Gunner in this game will keep the player visible from the Chopper Gunner, meaning they can be shot at.

When the player acquires the Chopper Gunner they are prompted to a screen where they are flying in the sky. The player uses a minigun to shoot at enemy players.

Attack Dogs (11 kills) - The Attack Dogs, made famous in Call of Duty: World at War, are dogs that run around the map looking for enemies. Once they find their enemies they pounce, killing their prey. In World at War it took two hits for a dog to kill you at full health. However, in Black Ops it states that dogs may kill in one hit.

Gunship (11 kills) - The second option of the highest killstreak is the Gunship - a controllable helicopter that has two different weapons to choose from - a minigun and rockets.

Keep in mind that you start out with three killstreaks - the Spy Plane, the Care Package, and the Attack Helicopter. All other killstreaks must be purchased by spending CoD Points.

  • The newest installment in the Call of Duty series has new and re-used killstreaks.
  • You must purchase all of your additional killstreaks.
  • Some killstreaks leave you vulnerable to enemies while you control them.
In the previous Call of Duty, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, there was a killstreak titled "Tactical Nuke" that ended the game after a player acquired a 25 killstreak if they had it equipped.
