Call of Duty: Black Ops - Treyarch and Activision Introduces Theater Mode
Lights, Camera... Headshot!
Many players are capturing their video gaming talent these days by recording their gameplay and posting it on websites such as YouTube.com. It seems only natural to do this as competitive gaming has become increasingly heated as more and more people are sucked into the realm of online gaming.
However, despite the great idea of recording one's self to show their skill, it was difficult to do since it required expensive equipment to do so. That is until now. According to Treyarch and Activision they are now introducing a new mode that I am sure everyone will be raving about (I know I am already) - Theater Mode. According to IGN.com Theater Mode allows you to utilize:
"(...) a free roaming camera that can also lock on to players, clip and screenshot export, the ability to fast forward or rewind the action, and the option to browse your friend's shared files." (Article: http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/111/1117728p1.html)
Basically all of the editing essentials are right at your fingertips (well, thumbsticks and buttons). And being able to export your gameplay should allow people to upload their clips more easily to YouTube and other websites. There is no word on what the time cap of these clips are as of yet.
IGN.com also states that saving your games won't be an issue, as the game saves your past 100 games within the past 7 days automatically for easy editting. IGN.com also states that there is a time line used for Theater Mode that allows you to easily navigate when you got kills and got killed:
"The timeline displayed during theater mode indicates all the kills in the match, a green mark for a kill, and a red mark for when you died, allowing you to quickly skip to the interesting parts of the match. The tools look super powerful -- both for the casual player that wants to know where jerks are camping and for the hardcore Machinima maker." (http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/111/1117728p1.html)
For those of you who don't know who or what Machinima is - it's a well-known YouTube channel that posts a wide variety of gaming videos and clips. Some of the videos of games that Machinima posts include Call of Duty games and Halo 3.
