Call of Duty: Black Ops - Zombies Make Grave a Return

The Undead Are Back... Again, for Your Entertainment

Call of Duty has been a huge hit since it's initial release for the PC back in 2003. Since then Call of Duty has become a household name for serious gamers. After the initial release of Call of Duty 1 there has been a string of installments to the series - most noteably the most recent release last November or 2009 - Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, the sequel to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare created by Infinity Ward. New games to the Call of Duty series come out annually, and generally have alternated between two different companies under Activision - Treyarch and Infinity Ward. Treyach's last Call of Duty was Call of Duty: World at War, where the bonus game of Nazi Zombies made a huge splash in the gaming world. It was such a big hit (although the company didn't think it would be this huge) that people were buying Call of Duty: World at War solely for the Nazi Zombies itself.

In Call of Duty: World at War there were a variety of different levels to play on (four to be exact - one came initially, the post three were downloaded with the map packs). As the map packs came out for download the Nazi Zombies maps progressed. For example, the second downloadable map for Nazi Zombies contained "Perk Machines", which allowed you to purchase perks out of soda-type machines by using points you had obtained from doing the different tasks to stay alive. In the fourth Nazi Zombies map there was even deeper customization by allowing you to add attachments and customize guns in different ways. Even through the progression of these maps new guns not found in the single player or online multiplayer were created - such as the Ray Gun.

Now the anticipated game within a game returns from the grave for another round of co-op fun for zombie lovers (well, zombie killers who love to kill zombies) get another chance at this fantastic and innovative gameplay.

According to Best Buy, buyers who purchase the Hardened or Prestiged edition will receive four additional maps - which seem to be the old Nazi Zombie maps from Call of Duty: World at War. There seems to be speculation that Activision may eventually sell these maps separately as downloadable content for people who buy the regular edition of the game.

Call of Duty: Black Ops is scheduled to be released November 9th, 2010.
