New Weapons
The first thing we learn from the video is the new weapons available in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. These new weapons include the SCAR-H, MP5K, AUG HBAR, AA-12, UMP45, TAR-21 FMJ, USP. 45, and the KRISS. Infinity Ward has also added riot shields and throwing knives. Riot shields can only be used with small guns, and the throwing knives look very effective. Two of the guns the player ran over in the beginning of the video had "Bling" at the end of the name. This means that the gun has two attachments, at the end of the video, we see a gun with both a silencer and reflex sight.
New Perks
The riot shield is probably going to take the place of a perk, much like how the grenade launcher and grip worked in the first game. The "bling" mode where you can have more than one gun attachment probably replaces a perk also. It seems that there is also a radar jammer perk now. At the end of the video, as the player approached fourzerotwo his radar got fuzzier, but when he killed fourzerotwo it cleared up right away.
New Kill Streak System
The unnamed player got a a UAV for his 3rd kill, an airdrop for his 4th kill, and a predator missile for his 5th kill. After his third reward he didn't unlock anything, so Infinity Ward is probably going to allow players to pick any three kill streak rewards. Unfortunately, he didn't use either the supply drop or the predator missile so we won't get to see what that looks like.
New Points System
For each kill the player gets in the video, he gets fifty points. In Call of Duty 4 the only game mode you get fifty points per kill is Search and Destroy where there are no respawns. Maybe that is because he had the flag since we don't see him get a kill without it. He also got twenty points for an assist, so either they give points based on how much damage you did or you get 2/5 of the point value for an assist.
New Alerts System
Whenever he gets a kill, a small rectangle pops up in the bottom of the screen with details about that player. There is a picture to the right of their name that seems like a selectable avatar and it also includes their rank. In the top right corner, it shows specific events relevant to the game type, such as picking up the flag or killing a flag runner.
CTF
The last important addition is bringing back Capture the Flag mode. Call of Duty 2 had this mode, but Infinity Ward opted to leave it out of Call of Duty 4. Many people missed CTF in Call of Duty 4 and it is a very welcome addition to Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2.
Infinity Ward seems to be doing a great job with Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, I know I cannot wait to play some multiplayer.
