Call for Nominations for January, 2011 "Most Intriguing AC from Yahoo Writer"

Charlotte Kuchinsky
Someone suggested that I consider doing my "Most Intriguing Writer" awards on a monthly basis. I loved the idea and kudos for the recommendation. Please re-identify yourself (because now I can't find the message) so that I can personally thank you and invite you to be part of the judging process.

Keep in mind; however, that I can't possibly do these awards without the help of my readers, both with nominations and with judging. I will be contacting a few of you to help judge each month. Hopefully, that will rotate from person to person so it won't be too much of a burden on anyone throughout the year. I encourage you to consider being a judge since I think the award will have more punch if it isn't based solely on my opinion.

Nominations for the previous month open up on the first day of the subsequent month (February), which will be noted with a "Call for Nominations" article. A maximum of 20 nominees will be accepted so that judges can adequately give each nominee proper attention. Therefore, it is important to get your nominations in early so that your nominee isn't left out.

Nominations will remain open for one week only. They will close on the 7th day of that month.

Judges will have two weeks (14 days) to read the nominees' work for the previous month and make their recommendations for the single award winner. Majority opinion rules. If there is a tie, I will break it.

The award winner will be announced on the final day of the month following their nomination, before a new call for nominations is sent out. Award winners will receive a certificate in recognition of their win and have an article written about them by one of the judges.

Monthly award winners cannot win again within the same year. However, all monthly nominees and winners will automatically be subject for end-of-the-year "Most Intriguing Writer" awards. Nominees will receive a point advantage above nominees made at the end of the year. Winners will receive a two-point advantage.

There are no categories for monthly awards. Fiction and non-fiction and news and short stories or poetry, etc. will have equal chances for capturing the award. What counts is quality of writing as well method of writing, which is what I call "the most intriguing factor."

This article serves as the call for nominations for January 2011. Nominations can be made in the comment section below or they can be sent to me by private message between now and February 7, 2011. Once 20 nominations have been made, I will notify other nominators of the cut off.

If you have any questions or suggestions for this process, please feel free to contact me. Happy nominating!

I'm really looking forward to this Charlie, I've been trying to find a systematic way to find interesting writers I have yet to read or those whom I've not seen for some time. I'll be glad to help on this too, it's quite an undertaking you have here and a valuable community asset.
