Calling All Males! Male Teachers Needed

The Female to Male Ratio in Education

Denise
The education of our children is at stake by the outcomes of the test scores and an imbalance in techniques to resemble the average home. Meaning, the type of education the children receives comes from a one point of view. The American children are not getting the benefits of learning under a firm knowledgeable environment, and is punished by being held back only to repeat tests that the government feels can be taught. Perhaps, this is due to the imbalance in gender influence that can help by representing the complete family environment. For example, the education system is dominated by female teachers. This does not mean that they are less capable of leading a classroom, but some females take the responsibility in stride as other slack off. I remember some female teachers taking the time to exude her higher level to their assistants, spending time talking to other teachers in the hallway for hours, and leaving the assistant to watch the students. Moreover, the male teachers seem to use their role as a father figure who refuses to stray from his responsibilities. However, out of three million teachers there are only seven hundred and forty seven thousand male teachers in the public schools as a forty year low. Males are not around to promote the strong father figure example to many children who do not have one, and public schools have a bad reputation by having students who are out of control. Male teachers can get control by their friendly yet intimidating presence that some students would pay attention to quickly.

Many of these students expected to learn well under teachers come from broken homes, and have a tendency to fight against authority figures. Studies discovered that nearly one in four adolescents under the year of 18 lives with a single mother as a parental figure. For minorities, one out of two adolescents are from single parents homes with a mother. This means that the single parent has to work one or two jobs to take care of herself and her children. Moreover, divorces have tripled in number along with unmarried teenage pregnancy which doubled. There has been numerous reports of massacres and threats in schools that has disturbed the nation. In addition, studies have found that students who drop out of school will most likely end up going to jail for various crimes. On top of that studies have shown that the government gives more funds to prisons than they do to schools. We have heard of many programs around the nation ending due to cut backs, and when we consider all these elements affecting the children something must be done. How a student lives his or her life can have a tremendous affect on how well they can learn. In addition, we need more caring teachers to be creative in their teaching methods and perceptive about each student. One should think that C students and lower by earnest effort need to be helped first and foremost. Each subject should be taught with enthusiasm by teachers who actual want to be teachers. As a student I've heard teachers tell us that they didn't want to be teachers which was evident in the dry way they used to teach. An unpleasant attitude cannot help our students get the full benefit of a well rounded education the teachers portray as boring.

The Regents tests should reflect what the teachers are teaching, or the teachers chosen should be able to teach the subjects well enough for the students to learn. The failing regents tests wasted many students time, and held back others who did not deserve it due to the fact that they could not teach themselves what a supposed guru made up at a whim. One fact remains that these students are our future, and the education taught to them by a qualified educator must be designed for learning. Males who are qualified to teach need to be sought out to balance the teaching styles in the classrooms. Males tend to exude leadership and authority that perhaps the students may be able to respect. In history males were the breadwinners who took care of the family as the head of the household. So, naturally they are built for such areas that could change the face of the entire education system. For instance, if male and female teachers were equal in number it could make a dramatic difference. When parents are at home or at work the teachers are the guardians for the day that includes all the possible needs of the children until they go home. I would like to know what ideas males would have in getting the students interested in school and prepared for the regents testing. Then to assess the overall achievement of American students test scores with other countries I believe will be a definite improvement. Some studies made the literacy rate in other countries higher than here. Bill Gates plan to make new school that are technologically capable for preparing the students for the future in one way to look at why male teachers are needed. There are more males interested in computers, video games and technology in general.

I think that male teachers are needed because, most households are mostly female dominated by sing mothers and children need a father figure. plus i am at college hopefully progressing to university, then a male teacher. i am 16 with big ambitions and big questions that need answering.
