The Wreaths Across America's mission statement is:
"Remember, Honor, Teach and is carried out in part by coordinating wreath laying ceremonies on the second Saturday of December at Arlington, as well as veterans' cemeteries and other locations in all 50 states and beyond."
This year as a pledge to give thanks, Wreaths Across America is asking groups, leaders and individuals at local levels in our communities to commit one day in either May, June or July to hand out military appreciation cards along with a handshake to say thanks for serving to our military. The military appreciation cards are totally free and available by signing up here.
The appreciation card and handshake won't cost you one dime, just your time and only for just one day. What a wonderful way to show our veterans, active duty members and their spouses that we appreciate what they are doing for our country.
Be creative and join with others in setting up a table with American Flags and huge "Thank You" posters. This is the 20th Anniversary of the laying of wreaths at Arlington National Cemetery for Wreaths Across America. Without volunteers stepping up to the plate, an endeavor of this magnitude would not be possible. Volunteers will also be placing wreaths at over 500 locations in December of 2011.
Handing out the military appreciation cards will only require you to give one day of your time to show that you care. The cards, along with a permission to participate at the location, a downloadable poster and handouts will be supplied by Wreaths Across America.
Go Here to make a difference today.
What a difference one day of appreciation can make.
