Callista Gingrich to the Rescue!

Lora Covrett

Newt Gingrich 's popularity seems to have hit its peak and is headed downhill. His wife, Callista, has taken to Twitter to help out her man. Her Twitter handle is @CallyGingrich. Her profile says she's President of Gingrich Productions and has a link to the website for that company.

Her tweets go back as far as April, 2009. The tweets generally consist of what she and Newt are doing with their production company, tweets about television appearances, their books, their grandchildren and golf outings at Trump National. However, her tweets became more political this week when she chose to retweet something from a Newt Gingrich supporter.

She retweeted a message from @UnitedStates: "Poor Romney. He just is a sound bite candidate. Chris Wallace pulled the string from his back, and he spewed consultant apprvd policy." She retweeted a second message from that same user: Mitt's "Money Never Sleeps" photo. I personally don't mind it, but it won't play well in Ohio." The profile for @UnitedStates states that the owner's name is Greg Krajewski.

None of Callista's own tweets have been directed at any other candidate. Her tweets are all very warm and pleasant. Still, when you retweet something on Twitter, you are sharing it with your followers. Twitter users don't generally share comments they disagree with or find offensive or inappropriate. Should Callista Gingrich even have a Twitter account? How on earth could she think she's helping Newt's campaign? If Newt cannot manage his own wife, how on earth does he think he's going to manage a country?
