An upset stomach is never fun to endure and home remedies can make it much more pleasant then having to run to the corner drug store. For that once in a while upset stomach I have tried several methods with the items I have in my own cupboards.

Peppermint is one thing that will calm that upset stomach and with a nice tea it can help to calm your nerves also. Take a natural peppermint tea such as Celestial Seasonings Caffeine Free natural Herb Tea. Use one tea bag in a hot cup of water and steep this for about 4 minutes. Let tea cool for a few moments and drink. It is preferable to drink this tea remedy without sweetener or creamer if possible.

Cinnamon can assist in reducing an upset stomach also and if you wish add a few scrapings from a cinnamon stick into your Celestial Seasonings Peppermint Tea or even in a plain natural decaf tea.

Caraway Seeds are another good item to assist with an upset stomach. If it is not bedtime and you are sitting in a comfortable chair watching the television or listening to music or just relaxing take some Caraway Seeds and just snack on them. Not a lot of Caraway Seeds but about 1/3 cup is good enough. They have a great flavor and are well known for their medicinal characters of soothing an upset stomach.

Baking Soda is probably the most well known item in the kitchen cupboard for soothing an upset stomach. 1 teaspoon of Baking Soda in a cup of warm water and drink this slowly while relaxing.

Crackers crushed in warm milk is also an old fashion soothing mixture for an upset stomach. If one wants to try it warm milk mixed with toast or graham crackers can also find their way into the remedies of soothing the upset stomach. Make sure that the milk is just warm and not hot. Do not heat the milk till it has a skin on top this will not help sooth the stomach.

Ginger, Fennel Seeds, Thyme can all be made into a tea for soothing an upset stomach also. Boil the water and place in a cup, add one of the above listed items either Fennel Seeds, Thyme, or Ginger and let steep for approximately 2 minutes, drain the water taking out the seeds and flakes and drink just the liquid. Again this should be without sweetener or cream.

Staying calm and sitting upright when using these remedies will make the soothing effect much more evident.

Keep in mind that if you suffer from an upset stomach for long period of time or over the course of several days it will be necessary to see a physician. Also remember that these remedies will probably not be acceptable if your upset stomach is accompanied by a fever or vomiting. If these other symptoms appear or are present see your physician.
