Camille Grammer: From 'Real Housewife' to Desperate Housewife?

As Season 1 of Bravo's "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' Comes to a Close, Camille Grammer May Have to Find a Way to Repair Her Tarnished Image

Poor Camille Grammer. While it may not seem right to say "poor" about someone who is set to get over $30 million in a divorce settlement, money isn't everything.

The former "Club MTV" dancer is currently going through a messy divorce from actor Kelsey Grammer. In the interim, her stint on the Bravo reality show, "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" is winding down. And there lies her dilemma.

Grammer, who claims that Bravo misrepresented her on "Housewives," is toying with the idea of not returning for a second season of the show. After hiring lawyer Larry Stein, she's been let out of her contract- if she so desires.

During an appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" last week, Grammer said her estranged husband pressured her to sign on to "Real Housewives." The premiere episode of the show featured Kelsey Grammer leaving his wife and kids as he packed up for a one-year Broadway run, where he ultimately decided that he wanted out of his 14-year marriage (and where he also took up with flight attendant, Kayte Walsh).

But after her portrayal on "Housewives," Camille Grammer may have to desperately work to repair her own tarnished image.

Grammer has been criticized for her snarky comments on the show (she referred to cast mate Kyle Richards' BFF Faye Resnick as "the morally corrupt Faye Resnick") and for her overly chummy friendship with married pal Nick Stabile (Grammer raised eyebrows when she greeted Stabile with a kiss on the lips- in front of his wife, actress Tricia Small).

But now that she knows how the editing room works, perhaps a second go-round on "Housewives" would be a good thing for Grammer.

Let's face it, all of the "Housewives" have had some cringe-worthy moments but Grammer, especially, has come off as a shallow girl who can't play nice with the other girls.

Not that she hasn't tried. Grammer opened up her beautiful, 17 acre home to the other "Housewives" on several occasions, including a cocktail dinner party that went terribly awry and later for a casual tennis tourney and swim party. But most of Grammer's get togethers with the other girls- both on her turf and off- have ended badly.

There's been season-long head butting between Grammer and fellow "Housewife", Kyle Richards. After a huge blowout at Camille's cocktail party (which was portrayed to be fueled by her guest of honor, psychic Allison Dubois, who described the episode as "recklessly edited") Grammer said some not-so-nice things about Richards' husband, realtor Mauricio Umansky, alluding to the fact that he just may be a womanizer.

But in her Bravo blog, Grammer later apologized for her comments (although the blog entry is no longer on the Bravo website, Dubois re-posted it on her official website). In her post Grammer wrote:

I want to apologize to Kyle and her husband Mauricio. We have worked with Mauricio for several years, I think he is a lovely person and I must apologize for my comments because I believe they really have a great marriage and he does love his wife. It was the end of a very volatile day with emotions raging and tempers flaring.I reacted out of frustration and made statements that should not have been said.

Grammer also wrote:

Why did I agree to do this show? Is this as bad as it gets?

Let's hope so. Because a "Real Housewives" without Camille just wouldn't seem real.

Camille until you were alerted your marriage was over your personality was not so nice. There was an under tone of sarcasim and arrogance about you. You kept mentioning how nice you are and how you like to help people but a person who has those qualities don't have to verbalize them it shows in their mannerism. Sorry about what happen to you but hopefully this divorce can make you a better person a more sensative person. The cold chill you possess is evident try to warm up a bit!!

I like Camille. I feel bad for her and her kids. Kelsey is a disgusting jerk and as ugly as the new girl who he will do the same thing to.

She's a horrible woman! But it's fun to watch her, I will admit. Especially so I can read them rag on her over at tvgasm. They are mercyless and she deserves it!

Oh I disagree with the last line of this story. There would absolutely be a show without Camille. I think she is an absolutely awful person all the way around. I understand she is human, but I think she is mean spirited, fueled by jealousy, looks down on people, and ultimately horribly selfish as a mother and a person.
