This camp does not have the most modern facilities or equipment, but it is camp after all, and there is something nostalgic about the wooden cabins, old-fashioned dining hall and the small gift/snack shop. Swimming is in the lake with a slick water slide, and canoeing is offered in the pond. Camp Iroquoina is one of the few Christian camps that offer separate girls/boys camps-this is so nice because girls (and boys) can spend a week or two just having fun, learning Bible truths, and not having to worry about impressing the opposite sex.
During Girls' Camp, they offer great classes during the day like cake decorating, gymnastics, swimming lessons, sewing, canoeing, basketball, and much more. Another highlight is "secret sisters" where the girls each pick a name of another camper to do good deeds for throughout the week. Of course, there are the regular campfires, cook-outs, hikes, devotional times, and singing by the lake that every camper looks forward to. Scripture lessons are taught through skits and activities that help the girls remember what they have learned even when they return home.
Boys' Camp is much the same as Girls' Camp, but geared for guys with classes like fencing, archery, Chess, canoeing, basketball, street hockey, and wrestling. Boys are divided into two teams for the week and enjoy an exciting array of activities as well as solid Biblical teaching.
The camp also has a week of Soccer Camp where boys and girls can experience a special program of soccer instruction with a Christian approach. Family camp is offered as well, with two weeks available. Families may elect to stay in a tent/trailer or a cabin. Besides the summer programs, the camp offers various retreats throughout the year (Father/Son, Men's, Ladies', Senior High, etc.).
Boys' and Girls' Camps each run for two weeks each summer, and campers may choose to stay for one week or two. The counselors are volunteers and range in age from college students to mothers/fathers with children of their own. Cost for a week of camp is $185 with a $50 registration fee.
Both of the summers I was privileged to be a counselor at Camp Iroquoina, I had wonderful times I will never forget. My younger brothers and sisters loved attending this camp. I recommend it highly to anyone seeking a good Christian summer camp in Pennsylvania.
