Campbell's Pork & Beans, which come in handy size I like---an 8-ounce pop-top can---are easy to carry around and full of protein. It seems there are few snacks like these Campbell's Pork & Beans, which offer a whopping 7 grams of fiber, 6 grams of protein, less than 5 milligrams of cholesterol, only 1.5 grams of total fat and just 8 grams of sugar per four-ounce serving.
Something that many people will find especially convenient about these handy Campbell's Pork & Beans is that the eight-ounce cans have an easy-to-open pop-top ring, which allows you to open the can by simply pulling up a ring tab then pulling the lid right off the can. That's right---no need for can openers here. While you can safely eat Campbell's Pork & Beans at room temperature, these really taste best when heated. I have tried Campbell's Pork & Beans at room temperature and they taste fine unheated (that is, they taste like room-temperature beans!); however, when served hot, Campbell's Pork & Beans are very tasty, moist, soft (not mushy), and make for a delicious snack. Definitely, I recommend that you eat these beans hot.
While many people prefer to rigidly stick to eating by the "serving size," I personally have a hard time eating just four ounces of pork and beans. I tend to eat the entire eight-ounce can(!) Of course, if you eat the whole eight-ounce can, then you can get more than half your daily fiber (56%), and fiber seems to be something that is hard to squeeze into some people's diets.
Of course, when eating pork and beans, this question often comes up: "where's the pork?" (hmm...doesn't this line brings up memories of a 1980s ad campaign for a famous fast-food company?). I have inspected my Campbell's Pork & Beans many times for any physical evidence of pork, and frankly I have yet to find anything that substantially resembles pork. However, one can distinctively taste pork in Campbell's Pork & Beans. And, yes, there actually is pork in this tasty Campbell's snack. In fact while pork is the seventh ingredient listed on the back of the can, it is not "pork flavor"---it IS bona fide pork!
Campbell's Pork & Beans can be easily microwaved, as the back of the can says it takes just 1 to 1-1/2 minutes at high to heat these pork & beans. I usually use a sauce pan and the stove top to heat up Campbell's Pork & Beans; it takes about 3-5 minutes at medium-high to get the beans simmering (of course, cooking times may vary depending on your stove).
