Campbell's Tomato Soup Vs Wal-Mart Brand Tomato Soup

I have been eating tomato soup for as long as I can remember. It is by far my favorite canned soup. As the Campbell's commercials show, tomato soup goes great with a cheese sandwich, crackers, and many other items. With winter coming, there is nothing like a warm bowl of soup when you feel cold and hungry. Not to mention that tomatoes are a great food to eat.

However, Campbell's soups tend to have more sodium in them than I would like. I once read a top ten list of foods that people should never eat and Campbell's chicken noodle soup was on that list because of the sodium content. But their chicken noodle soup isn't the only one with a lot of salt.

Wanting a soup with lower sodium, I bought the Campbell's Healthy Request tomato soup. Surprisingly, it tastes better than the regular Campbell's tomato soup. It doesn't taste like the only difference is less salt, but I can't put my finger on it. Whatever the difference is, I prefer Campbell's Healthy Request soup.

As much as I love Campbell's soup, however, it is hard to ignore the rising prices in the grocery store. Even canned soup has risen in price. The higher prices make it very tempting to try the cheaper Wal-Mart brand tomato soup. One day when Wal-Mart was out of the Campbell's tomato soup, I decided to try the Wal-Mart brand tomato soup.

I hate to bash any product since I am a rather picky eater. I imagine someone must like the Wal-Mart brand soup or it never would have made it to being on the shelf. But I can't sugarcoat this. Wal-Mart's tomato soup tastes horrible. I actually gagged when trying it and then I poured it down the kitchen sink. It tastes a lot like the metal can it is in. And it also seems to be missing something. What that something is, I have no idea. How can canned tomato soup go so wrong?

Campbell's tomato soup is by far the superior soup. It's so creamy and rich. Obviously it is made with excellent quality tomatoes. And it doesn't have a metal taste at all. I like my tomato soup to be made with a half a can of milk and a half a can of water to make it creamy rather than being made simply with water. I also add some pepper. Campbell's Healthy Request is even better than the regular Campbell's tomato soup and I highly recommend both of them.
